Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kensington Mini Battery Extender and Charger for iPod; iPhone 1G, 3G (Black)

Customer Review: Great product - Works with iPhone 2.1 and 2.2
Summary: 5 Stars

I am writing this review in response to one of the 1-star reviews that claims this product does not work with the iPhone 2.1 or 2.2 software updates. I purchased the product for my brother as a Christmas gift, and was a little worried that it would not work. My brother and I have been playing around with the battery all day today on our v2.2 iPhone 3Gs... and I can verify that it works PERFECTLY!

We have not had any problems working with the battery, and it's nice that you can charge your iPhone even with the battery connected. Great product with a great price from Amazon!

Customer Review: Nice little helper
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this battery extender for a trip to Europe where the iPhone would have to survive long plane rides and long days walking around with possibly no chance to recharge except in the hotel. The Kensington worked pretty well both from the perspective that it is small and easily goes in a pocket and can fully recharge the iPhone once if left alone for a few minutes. If you are like me and can't leave it alone then it can maintain the charge in the iPhone while you are using it but, it won't be able to put a charge into the iPhone faster that you are taking it out while using apps.

Customer Review: Kensington Battery Extender
Summary: 5 Stars

When I purchased my iPhone I heard about all the battery issues and thus I rushed to buy myself a battery extender. While it was not a mistake I would suggest you use the iPhone for a period of time to get used to it before you start purchasing a lot of accessories. This battery works great and actually recharges the iPhone battery once you connect the extension. It is easy to charge, however the question most of all is does one really need it at all. If you cannot get to an electrical plug for regular recharge of your iPhone than maybe this extender is for you.

Customer Review: Should work for any USB-powered device
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought it as an external battery pack for an M-Audio Microtrack 24/36 since the built-in M-Audio battery is proprietary, non-replaceable, and has a short life. The Kensington battery pack works fine. The charge indicator is easy to read, the connectors are easy to access and pretty nearly idiot-proof. The self-discharge rate is quite low - weeks to bleed off even one tick from a fully charged pack. The form factor makes it easy to carry in your pocket or briefcase. It should work with any device that is intended to be powered off a USB port.

Customer Review: It can be a life saver
Summary: 4 Stars

The Kenington Mini performs very well in its charging function. It's got enough capacity to charge your iPhone from completely depleted to about 90% charge before it is drained. Its small size makes it easy to carry. The only shortcoming is that when it's plugged into the phone, it feels sort of loose and it can be easily shifted causing it to disconnect. During periods of charging the phone with it while using the phone, I've resorted to jury rigging it to the phone with a rubber band. Not very high tech, but it does keep the Kenington in place.
