Customer Review: Good Portable Power, but Only Half Charge for iPhone

I bought two, let them charge over night and grab one in the morning to take with me. They are super compact, not that cubersome when attached to the phone and priced well. Love you that you dock your phone and charge through USB at the same time. Anyway, was a bit disappointed in the charge factor - managed only to get about 1/2 > 2/3 of a charge for my first gen iPhone off of these. Again, handy for emergencies, etc. but thought I'd at least get a full charge going. Overall I'm pleased with the purchase but looking back would probably look around to see if there are some high capacity extenders out there with the same pricepoint.Customer Review: Returning Item DOA

It's not worth your time to wait for a product that doesn't work. After charging the battery for 6+ hours it didn't hold the charge. Tried using it on a iPod, iPhone, and iPhone 3G and none of them worked. I know it was making contact with the iPhone since the charge icon changed for a second. Also I was able to charge the iPhone through the battery pack plugged into the usb cable, so it wasn't the cable. I even tried calling the Kensington customer support and even they said to return it to Amazon. Don't waste your time, there are other OEM products out there that are less than half the price that seem to be the same.Customer Review: Works like it says

This battery extender works as it says. I only gave it 4 stars because I have to remove my ipods from their cases/skins in order to attach the charger. This is mainly due to the minimal space provided by the charger. The battery must be pushed flat against the ipod in order to begin charging, if your case/skin does not allow this you will have to remove it or buy a dock extender. Works great with the 5th G ipod video and 1g ipod touch. I haven't tried it with the iphones yet (taking them out of the case is a bit of an inconvenience).

I bought this device before I took a trip to vegas. After several charges it worked fine. After several charges, it simply will not recharge at all. Sits on the first light. Does not recharge. I do not recommend this device due to this.. and several other reviews have said the same thing. I am a bit shocked, because Kensington has, in the past, given me good quality items. Will beware before buying anymore Kensington products until I had read about them first.
I just bought this without doing the 'amazon review' first, since I had such good experiences with Ken... but no more.

Wanted to confirm that this works with Iphone 3g just fine. You can keep using your Iphone and listening to music etc while this is attached (it puts it into charging mode like plugging it into a wall outlet). Hoping to use this for my plane travel this week will report on battery life.
Also, wanted to say that this seems to charge fine with my Belkin Iphone charger (the set where you get wall and car charger with usb plug ins on both) it's really nice because the wall charger has two usb outlets so you can charge both the battery and Iphone at the same time without a laptop etc.
