Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kensington K33902US Bluetooth USB Micro Adapter

Customer Review: Haven't removed it from my laptop yet
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this because I wanted a Bluetooth dongle I could always keep connected to my laptop, even as I carried it around in my not-too-well-padded backpack.

It's been flawless. Doesn't get in the way, and I've been able to use all the Bluetooth services I need. It sticks out about a centimeter, you wouldn't know it's there if I didn't point it out. My most common use is pushing photos from my phone. It's quick and intuitive with the included software.

With Vista, the software packaged with it is pretty much a must. That's a bit of a drawback, what with Vista's pretty well fleshed out Bluetooth support being built in. Vista only discovered the virtual COM port service with native drivers.

Customer Review: Windows7 Compatible
Summary: 4 Stars

Purchaed the Kensington K33902 on July 18, 2010, and I am very pleased with the ease that it was loaded on my HP Laptop using Windows7. I loaded the software from the CD provided by the manufacturer. I saw reviews that said that it was not compatible with Windows7. That is absolutely not true except it was purchased before the manufacturer provided a CD with drivers for Windows7. In fact, the software CD that came with the micro adapter as well as the packaging clearly states that it is compatibke with computers running Windows7, Vista and XP (SP2).

A great buy and as illustrated, it can remain plugged into your laptop with very little chance of it being damaged.

Customer Review: Flawless
Summary: 5 Stars

This device works as advertised for my purpose, which is to connect my Samsung Hue via BitPim. I've used the adapter on two systems (both running XP SP3), and it works flawlessly, installing the native XP drivers (no need to install the much more resource-intensive application that ships with the adapter). No hassle at all: switch on the Hue's Bluetooth discovery mode, switch the PC Connection setting to Bluetooth, and the devices communicate without a problem. Then, when you're not using it, just disable the radio in the device manager. In neither case (on my desktop nor laptop) did the native XP Bluetooth drivers consume unreasonable resources. It just works.

Customer Review: Avoid the drivers
Summary: 4 Stars

I replaced an older KENSINGTON 33348 Bluetooth USB 2.0 Adapter because I wanted the new low profile Kensington K33902US Bluetooth USB Micro Adapter. I used the standard drivers for about a week. I noticed the bright blue light pulsed at a frenetic pace. So, I installed the new drivers and realized I made a big mistake. Nothing worked. It took over my G3 and NationalAcess Verizon USB740 Modem. I quickly removed the driver and reinstalled the Verizon drivers.

Customer Review: Pretty Good Product
Summary: 4 Stars

Well I think this is a pretty good product! Slid right into my computers USB port and had the easiest install process ive ever seen! My only complaint is with the range of the bluetooth. Currently, i am only using the Logitech DiNovo Keyboard with the adapter and it works perfectly when my keyboard is within 3 feet of the adapter/computer (on my desk) but when i move to my bed which is about 10 feet from my adapter/computer it begins to have a small delay with typing and the media keys. Overall its defiantly not the biggest flaw but dont expect to type or use the media keys from long distances!
