Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kensington K33902US Bluetooth USB Micro AdapterCustomer Review: Horrible Summary: 1 Stars
Ok so others have already stated that the software that comes with this adapter is useless, well not only that but it is very annoying on Win 7 ever since install I am constantly prompted on start-up to reinstall because the drivers aren't recognized...but the adapter is working fine. Next issue is that like said before you have to run it from the same USB port you installed it on or it won't recognize. Another issue I have had that I have not seen that anyone else had is I cannot full insert the adapter into my USB port or it won't recognize, I have to halfway pull it out and put it back in until I find just the right spot for it to be...and no it's not a problem with my USB port or the other 30 something USB devices I have would have the same issue. Your best bet is to stear clear of this one. I mean the only reason I bought this is because it was the only BT adapter that Amazon had with an actual Brand name that would ship to an APO address.
Customer Review: Toshiba BT stack is a liability Summary: 3 Stars
I have no problem with the hardware, but the Toshiba drivers that come with the device significantly limit its capabilities. Some parts of the software, like Skype integration, are over-engineered. As a result, I could not get Skype to work with this product (perhaps a compatibility issue with the latest Skype release, but I could not find a compatible version or one that was not recognized by Toshiba's drivers -- should have worked fine if the drivers just didn't try to do anything special). There are other peculiarities, like having to forever use the same USB port as the one used during the installation.
I highly recommend considering a similar device based on a Broadcom chipset (sometimes referred to as coming with WIDCOMM drivers).
Customer Review: Kensington Bluetooth Adapter Summary: 4 Stars
The Kensington K33902US BT USB Micro Adapter is one of many Bluetooth items I have used. This is the first I have used to have my computer be Bluetooth ready. The installation was the easiest thing by far. Connecting a Bluetooth Device has proven difficult due to the lack of manual "Search" for the device you are trying to pair. The Adapter auto searches but does have an interval timer so that you can make it more frequent. The range is the only other complaint I have on this device. Due to the nature of Bluetooth, I would have liked it to be able to have been more than 20ft away from my laptop and have my headphones not start to skip or fall out of range.
Overall, this product is a nice piece of work with, so far, minimal drawbacks.
Customer Review: OK, but difficult to setup. Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this since I could not get the bluetooth on my Apple MacBook Pro to work with Windows Vista (all other drivers seem to work fine except that one). Had to download drivers (3-in CD would not work in slot-load drive) and after several failed attempts to install gave up. THEN I tried installing off the CD-ROM in my Dell Inspirom 1520 with Windows XP Home (did not get the Bluetooth pre-installed). I had to install three times before it finally worked. Once installed it seems to work great, even got my Wiimote to pair with it, but probably talking about 2-3 hours total trying to install this and on 2 diffent machines before it finally worked. Like the small size, disliked having to repeatedly "play" with the thing to get it to work.
Customer Review: with Windows 7 Summary: 4 Stars
Made the mistake of following the directions, inserting the CD and going through the install process - which ended in saying that it wasn't compatible with this version of Windows (Windows 7). Uninstalled the software and then just put the blue tooth device in the USB slot and Win 7 installed the driver and software needed in a minute or so. It wouldn't connect with my Palm Tungsten E2 at first then I realized I hadn't changed the settings on my computer to allow the device to be "discoverable." Once I did that everything worked great. I'm happy with this device since my Palm Tungsten E2 is not able to sync with Windows 7 64-bit through the USB cable I've always used. Now I can still keep my E2 and sync without the cable. Nice!
