Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kensington DomeHub 7-port USB 2.0 Hub with FlyLightCustomer Review: Does exactly what it claims! Summary: 5 Stars
I like this USB hub. I bought one and liked it so much, I bought another for my other house. It's heavy and does not move around. Easy setup, the USB on the top is great for the junk drives/flash drives. I am very pleased with the quality - and the flashlight is nice too, though I don't really use it. I think the USB hub looks nice, but this last one I bought, I put behind a little door on my desk, so I could use the light in there to light up the cabinet I suppose to see where to plug things in. Haha.
Anyways, I highly recommend. If you don't choose this product, at least get a USB hub that plugs into an AC outlet. I have had more success with these than those powered only by the USB.
Thanks.
Customer Review: Just what I needed! Summary: 4 Stars
After shopping around to find the perfect hub, I chose the Kensington dome hub for function, space, and looks. It was easy to install. So far it is working fine. I loved the idea of the fly light, as I need more light on my keyboard at night and was thinking it would provide that. It is not that much light however...just a little tiny blue light and is diminishing in power as time goes along. It doesn't look to me as if it will last. If Kensington wants to add on this light idea again..I think it would be of benefit to expand it to a real light...one that would provide a bigger span of light. It was a selling point for me.
Otherwise, the hub is great and works fine for my needs!
Customer Review: Nicest USB Hub I've found Summary: 5 Stars
This is exactly what I needed to tame the mess of USB cables surrounding my PC. What I like best about it is the fact that it is WEIGHTED. This means is does not slide around all over the place on your desk like other (lightweight) hubs do. It's small (about the size of 1/2 a large Florida orange or a small grapefruit) and it offers all the features I wanted: weight, lots of ports (7) and LED port-in-use indicators for each port. the top-mounted port is nice too; great for plugging in and removing things frequently such as flash drives. This is one of the best PC gadgets I have bought in some time. Oh--and the free light that comes with it is a neato bonus. Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Powers everything except... Summary: 4 Stars
This has been a great hub except for the fact that it doesn't consistently power my Wacom Intuous4 PTK-840 graphics tablet and my iPod touch. They may power up fine one time but then show an alert of "insufficient power" the next. Those two items must have different power requirements than other devices because they won't both power up at the same time even plugged into the corded keyboard on my iMac. What this hub did do was free up enough ports on the back of my iMac so that I can plug them both in directly. It has performed flawlessly with everything else. It got four stars because I was expecting it to be able handle everything since it was a "powered" and pricey hub.
Customer Review: Nice Hub but didn't do exactly what I expected Summary: 3 Stars
It's a nice looking, heavy, and very usable hub but I have one problem with it. Devices plugged into it are powered even when the Hub's power cable is not plugged in (which means that their only being half powered anyway).
My idea was that I would have multiple devices plugged into the hub and then have the hub plugged into it's own power switch where I could turn them all on or off at the same time with the flick of the power strip switch.
I like it and it has come in handy for me but I just wish that if it wasn't receiving it's power source that it would not allow any plugged in usb devices attempt to power themselves off of the computer's bus.
