Customer Review: Don't let the criticism of others sway you
Summary: 5 Stars

I read all the reviews here before buying the hub. It amazed me how much they differed, so here's my summary. The weighted base is really nice as is the fact that the cables all exit the rear of the dome (other than the top port). I find it annoying when you have cables entering on all sides; what a mess. The dome neatened up my desk. USB connections are a little strange because of the curvature, but I have had NO problems with loose cables. The stay in place fine for me. I've tried a dozen or so different devices in different combinations; all have worked without any problems. For those that wrote earlier, I wonder if they bothered to plug in the AC adapter. They may have loaded down the available current on the PC if they didn't apply the external power. That could cause read/write problems with power-hungry moving drives. I have no complaints.

Customer Review: Would be great, if it was reliable
Summary: 2 Stars

I shopped around and this looked like a decent looking hub that met my needs (powered, 7 port). I needed to plugin 2 external drives, mouse, scanner, 2 ipods and sometimes my cell phone or camera. I found that my mouse would stop working from time to time. Power cycling the hub helped. Worse than that was running a VM (via VMWare) stored on the USB drive. Speed wasn't so bad, but after a while, VMWare complained the drive wasn't available. Sure enough, it wasn't mounted anymore. After putting up with this for a few months, not being sure what was at fault, the hub quit altogether. Kensington replaced it under warranty, but the new hub also showed the same issues with the drive. I have none of these issues plugging directly into my computer. I'm fed up and cannot recommend this! I'm shopping for something more reliable!

Customer Review: Great item, but...
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this USB hub for an older (2005) iMac. It certainly solves the problems of dealing with multiple USB-powered peripherals. One issue I did notice was that when I had 5-6 plugs used, my computer had difficulty starting up... in fact, it didn't start up until I unplugged all but 1-2 devices. Certainly, I wouldn't blame the product for this. It may be my older iMac, or one of those weird tech issues that never quite has a reason. I suppose it may be like plugging too many electrical devices into an extension cord. Whatever the case, it is simply something to watch out for. Oh, and it isn't exactly weighted as the product blurb states. I doubt that it would tip over, but that has more to do with its shape. You aren't going to be able to plug and unplug without moving the hub - which is sort of what I expected.

Customer Review: The solution you are looking for!
Summary: 5 Stars

Where has this hub been all of my life?

This is it. Look no farther, your solution is a few clicks away.
This little baby is amazing. I'm running 4, yes FOUR external hard drives, not a single one of them powered except by the USB power from the hub, and I am transferring movies from my laptop to every one of them at the same time with ZERO issues whatsoever. Fast transfer speeds, no connectivity issues at all. I'm in love!

The little light that comes with the hub is worthless unless you are in pitch black, but if that were the case your laptop screen will be more powerful than the light anyway...but hey, it is a cool bendy light!

Excellent hub, best I've ever seen, and after going through 3 others I am very very happy to have found this, the answer to my prayers.

Customer Review: Great little hub!
Summary: 5 Stars

Now I can plug my scanner, printer, iPod, camera, wireless mouse, cell phone & an external hard drive into my laptop (MacBook Pro) with a single USB connection. The hub is small enough to be unobtrussive on my desk and yet substantial enough not to slide around, should the occassional cord be moved.
The DomeHub is small enough that I'd consider it portable: its small & light enough to fit nicely in a laptop bag, should you (like me) need to travel and occassionally set-up an 'office' on the fly.
Curiously, the little silver dome compliments my MacBook Pro and scanner quite well.CanonScan LiDE600F (0302B002),Pixma iP90 Photo Printer for 4 x 6 to Legal Size, 4800 x 1200 dpi, 12ppm,
