Customer Review: Good mount, good price, a little wobbly

I have the iPhone 3G and am happy with this car mount.
Pros: cheap, easy to get iPhone in/out, works with any case, doesn't block speakers/mic/jacks, suction cup seems to grip well, long arm means the iPhone is comfortably in reach.
Cons: Because of the long arm, the iPhone shakes quite a bit when going over bumps. A little annoying because you can see it shaking in your peripheral vision, but considering the cost and the other pros, I can live with it. I have a Garmin with a suction cup mount, and it doesn't shake at all, so I know there are mounts that don't. However there are also a lot of really bad iPhone mounts, and this one is good in a lot of ways.

I bought this product to keep my iphone 3gs in plain view, to have easy access when selecting songs, or when using google maps as a navigator. I have gone through numerous bumps, instant brakes and my iphone never came off. You can even move it to view your iphone in panorama mode.
The reason I did not give this amazing product 5 stars is because, the handles that make sure the iphone stays in place is a tad bit small. This is probably because of the fact that it was made for the ipod and iphone 3g not 3gs, (hence no 32GB size). Another reason is that the mounting device is easily removable so sometimes in panorama mode, I feel that it could fall off.

There are so many of these on the market that are very cheaply made but this one from Kensington is so well made and sturdy! I love the features:
* you can move the bottom holders to avoid charger cables,
* you can get your devices out extremely easily! Just pinch the device and your finger naturally falls on the back of the holder's release button
* you can TURN the thing sideways once you mount your iPhone or iPod Touch and see movie (don't do this while driving)
* you can EASILY move the suction cup from place to place (like on the side window and use your phones speaker function when you don't own an earpiece)

This car mount has been good so far! The suction cup has held on tight for as long as it's been on the windshield. My iPod has not slipped in any way. The only bad things are: It bounces quite a bit which makes it hard to read the screen when the car is in motion. You may have a different experience in a different car (I drive a 2009 Toyota Prius) or if you have a smaller, lighter iPod or phone (I have a video iPod about two years old). Also I wish that the info stated that the mount included an Auxillary Cable (I ordered one,then had to cancel the order). Other than that, it has been a worthwhile purchase. I am a big fan of Kensington, but I was very disappointed with this. After attaching the suction cup to the windshield and placing my iPhone into the cradle, I made a minor adjustment--merely moved the iPhone a few degrees--and the cradle snapped right off. I examined the mechanism that holds the cradle onto the arm and it is flimsy at best. I can see that it is supposed to allow play clockwise and counter-clockwise, but this scheme is badly implemented. Not going to return for replacement. I'm just going to super glue it back together. Tsk tsk! They include a mini-wipe (why?), they should also include a tube of super glue.
