Kensington Car Charger for iPod and iPhone 1G, 3G (Black) I had the similar problems cited by others with the car charger over-heating and then found the iPhone over-heated and not fully charged as well. Initially the iPhone quit working when unpugged, but after cooling down re-started and seems to be OK now.Customer Review: Complete Garbage

I bought this so I could charge both my iphone 3g and my son's ipod nano while we were on road trips. It worked great on both.. FOR TWO WEEKS. Then it stopped charging and the piece that plugs into the lighter smells like burnt electronics. Luckily my trip took me close to an Apple store and I picked up a Griffin charger in there to replace it.
I'd avoid this piece of junk.

This product works as advertised. I had purchased another iPhone charger that turned out not to be 3G compatible or even iPhone compatible later. This worked right out of the box and is very well made. It will also charge anything that takes a chrage from USB since you can simply change the cble to match your device. This unit is attractive and does charge the iPhone. However, on my 2007 Toyota Yaris and on my mother in law's 2008 Toyota Sienna, the iPhone emits a high feedback sound when connected to the charger and the auxillary input. I'm not sure if this is Toyota's fault or Kensington's.
It basically means I can't charge and listen to music at the same time.

This seems to be well made and does a decent job of charging the iPhone. Although it may not be clear in the description, this charger comes with a detachable cable that can plug in both the USB port on your computer and the car charger which is very handy... imagine you have been playing Bejeweled a bit too long at your desk at work and need a quick charge ;).
