Customer Review: Perfect for long trips or people on the go

I finally broke down and bought one of these when my iPod ceased holding a charge for longer than a few hours. With a long car trip in our future, I knew we'd need it because long car trips with nothing to listen to mean wanting to throw yourself out the window.
Well, it did it's job as advertised, which is all I can ask of it. Kept the iPod charged and ready to go, which meant a steady stream of music and podcasts for the family and me. And that meant no throwing myself out the window.
Which would, as I'm sure you can imagine, have been quite painful.
Fairly small unit, easy to store, doesn't really get in the way. I just toss it in the glovebox when not using it.
Thumbs up for an affordable iPod accessory.

This is a simple device that is designed to do only one thing - charge an iPhone. Despite some negative reviews I bought one because it was a reasonable price (for an apple accessory) and it worked. A couple months later I bought another one for my wife's car, however, after a few days it stopped working.
Being the curious type I cracked open the case and found the cause of the problem - a loose wire. A quick resolder and voila...better than new.
So if you think you don't have the skills (or at least a friend to) fix it I would rate this ONE STAR
If you are handy, it's probably worth the price and 5 minute repair so I would rate this FIVE STARS

This iPhone car charger looks great, is flexible (the cable can detach and has a USB plug), and is very durable.
Its car charger adapter has a blue charging light indicator that's bright enough to see while not being annoying (it's also more durable than my cheap Garmin car charger plug). Its USB cable is longer than the USB cable that comes with the iPhone, so it makes a great extra iPhone USB cable for work.
I've been using this for 5 months now with my iPhone 3G and I can't think of anything negative about this product, which is rare if you look at my reviews for other products (even the ones I like).

I've had this charger for 2 years now, and have charged pretty much anything that has usb successfully on this bad boy. I absolutely love it. Don't let the reviews of people who got a bad one scare you away. This charger is amazingly convenient, and charges my products as expected. There's a little blue light that comes on when it's plugged in, but other than that, there's not much more to say about it. If you need one, get it. You won't be disappointed.
Edit: Works on 3g and 3gs iPhone in case you were wondering.

Was thrilled with this product initially. I bought two, one for myself and one for my wife. Both initially worked well. However, after less than a year, mine has stopped working consistently. Sometimes it would charge my iPhone. Other times, it would feel hot to the touch and would not charge my iPhone. Overheating? Would not buy again. Quality control is hit or miss. While mine stopped working, my wife's still works fine.
