I bought this for my wife for her Macbook Air.. Once you plug the USB in, it'll prompt you to hit the key to the right of the left shift key.. It doesn't recognize that, so just skip that step. The following screen tells you to select one of three keyboards (Japan, Europe, USA).. Once you pick the keyboard, it works flawlessly.. Range is very good, very responsive too!.. I then installed it on my Macbook Pro, and am quite happy with it. Wife loves the laser pointer (what she really wanted it for), and also blanking the screen.
I like it because when you "dock" the USB in the device, the keys don't work (thereby saving battery life).. I'm thinking of picking up one for myself! :) My wife used Keynote, and I use Lotus Symphony..

Just large enough, ergonomic, elegantly simple, and even stores the USB antenna within. It works perfectly, having excellent range. My only quibble is that the laser pointer is a little thin and weak. However, if your need is for a remote presenting device, and the pointer is a secondary concern, than this item is the one. I researched other products carefully and found that for design, functionality, and price--along with my experience with Kennsington quality--this really was my only choice. But again, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the weak pointer; I don't want anyone to be misled. Update 6/18/08: It has held up perfectly. I remain extremely happy with the purchase and maintain my contention that the laser pointer is weak.Customer Review: Excellent Remote!

I am a high school science teacher and bought this particular remote to replace a more economical but far inferior product from TARGUS. I've used it almost daily for an entire school year to present Power Point lecture material to my students and it has performed flawlessly. The rubber case provides good grip and is comfortable to hold, the buttons are responsive and durable (unlike the TARGUS) and it interfaces with my computer well. The laser pointer is a great feature which I use often. I also like the way the USB receiver fits into the base of the remote when not in use. It turns the unit off to conserve battery life and also stores the USB device so it's harder to lose. It's a well designed remote that I'd strongly recommend to anyone.Customer Review: Just what a presenter needs

This product's simplicity makes it work. As a frequent presenter, I have struggled with keys, mice, and the terrible remotes that come with projectors. The problem: you have to focus on the tool instead of the audience. This remote has only four functions--the ones that you need: next slide, last slide, turn off the slide, and a laser pointer. That's it. One other feature that clearly is the result of someone who actually does presentations is that the USB part--a part that could be easily lost--plugs into the remote when it is not in use. Doing so also disables the laser so you don't drain your battery.
If you do a lot of presentations, use this remote. All that you want and nothing that you don't.

This presenter is outstanding. I am a college professor (ie use this everyday) and also present frequently at conferences and have never had any problem with this. It's easy to use, highly durable, and the range is outstanding! A previous reviewer noted they only could go 20ft away, but I've never had a problem being even triple that far away. (I'm actually not sure how far it could go...apparently further than I've needed.) I should also note that it is not necessary to point the device at the USB port (as with others I've used). I typically keep it at my side.
I've started giving this as a gift! Have had mine for three years with high usage and never experienced a problem.
