Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kensington 33169 Digital FM Radio and Transmitter for iPods

Customer Review: Great for the car!
Summary: 4 Stars

This is exactly what I needed to listen to my iPod in the car. It is easy to connect and doesn't drain the battery. I need to turn my car radio speakers up very high, but that's no problem. When I am on a high bridge, there is a little interference from other stations, but that's no big deal, either. It is much safer than having ear phones in my ears while driving. The radio part is a little tougher to rate highly. The signal must be very strong to get a clear signal. It's great to have both a transmitter and a radio in one device!

Customer Review: cool product
Summary: 5 Stars

I had purchased an iPOD and wanted to use it in my car as well. So I bought the Kensington 33169 Digital FM Radio and Transmitter for iPODs, and it does that job quite well.

The key is to find an FM radio station that has only static and no music.

Also, it seems as if, for best reception, the iPOD needs to be less than 24-36 inches away from the car radio antenna.

Reception outside the house is better than in the house.

Another good thing is that you can preset multiple stations.

Customer Review: Worth it's price
Summary: 3 Stars

This product works as advertised. The pro is that if you need your car's AC power for something else (like to power your GPS), or if you want to use it on other radios, it is powered by your iPod. I've had it last 5 hours straight from a fully charged iPod, so it doesn't use too much power.
The one problem it seems to have is occasional mild bursts of static. Well, that and you can't use it with most iPod cases.
All in all though, it's a solid transmitter for its price range, and has some useful features.

Customer Review: Disappointing
Summary: 1 Stars

I'm glad I got this for a great price, because if I had bought it at regular price I would have been annoyed. It does work - you can hear your ipod through the car speakers - but it sounds like crap. There is so much background noise and hiss, you can hardly hear the music. I've tried every clear station in the area (there aren't many, I'm in a major market) without any noticible difference. This was a bargain that wasn't a bargain, because now I need to find one that actually works the way it is supposed to.

Customer Review: Stays on IPOD battery
Summary: 4 Stars

The best thing I like about this product is that it stays on the IPOD battery power. I like depleting the juice all the way down and then recharging and I have had my IPOD for over 2 years and the battery plays at work contionously for over 9 hours. I use this transmitter when driving. The sound is definitely reduced compared to plugging into a tape deck or plugging directly into a on board port. Overall it is a good unit and worth getting especially when you drive multiple vehicles around town.
