I have been through so many humidifiers trying to find a good one. This one did some of the stuff that others have complained about. I took all the flitering junk out of it and it works just fine... no stink... just a fine mist. The replacement filters aren't available which really is a problem. The machine is great when it is new but. . . The lack of a turn-off when empty is another thing that should be fixed but I can work around that. The humidifier works well, it's very quiet. I bought this last year and when I took it out this winter to use it, the smell was profoundly disgusting! I can't find a replacement filter either in case that's what is causing it. I can't use it with the awful smell.Customer Review: good value

I wanted a humidifier that was silent, but when I plugged this in, not only could I hear it from the other room, but it's a high-pitched whine. I don't know what to do about it. I think I'll probably just return it for something different.
