Just returned from a 2 week trip to Turkey where I was able to take some unbelievable pictures with my digital pocket camera thanks to this amazing gadget. Holds camera on anything (railings, rock outcroppings, etc.) and can even hold it for vertical format pictures. Allowed me to take pictures of me and my girlfriend that would have been impossible otherwise. Allowed me to take time lapse pictures that could only be taken with a tripod in places where other pocket tripods wouldn't work and normal size ones aren't allowed. All this and it fits in your pocket. I'm telling all my friends, and getting my Dad one for Christmas. A must have.Customer Review: Used as a Dash Mount

I gave my son a Gorilla Pod for Christmas and purchased another for myself. New Year's Day I went 4 wheeling and decided to mount my small Coolpics camera to the dash of my jeep. I go awesome video while driving some crazy steep and tilted trails. My fear was that the camera and tripod would end up on the floor. What I go was some great footage. This product may be made of plastic and the ball sockets will pop out, but they will go back in with light pressure. I recommend this for any out door adventurist that likes to take pics of their trip.

The grip is good. I've been using it for about a year and it hasn't weakened.
I know most people don't have a need to place their camera in a tree, but it's still the easiest thing for any unusual/uneven surface.

Also, now that the video mode on still cameras is usually decent and now that many of them have interval shooting features(*) you might want to try actually placing your camera in a tree.

(*)Take a shot between every 10 seconds up to every hour if I'm rememberbing variables correctly. Pentax Optio series has this feature. Bring the shots into a video editing program to create time lapse.

If You take Photos this Item is Invaluable and You Will use It all the Time. It Grabs onto anything Enabling You To Take Steady as a Rock Photos and Get in a Group/Couple Photo instead of always having to ask a Stranger to Take a Photo for You! I Have Used this to take Many beautiful Shots in Low Light including Many of the Moon Coming Up Over the Ocean with great results. The GorillaPod is Constructed of Good Materials and Very well Made. It Does everything Advertised. I expect it to Last a Lifetime and this would be a Wonderful Gift to Anyone who takes Photos! It won't be a Gadget someone will Throw Into a Drawer and never use.Customer Review: Really nice design, lock ring a bit loose

I really like the general idea of this tripod, and it works really nicely to hold up a small camera (in my case a Canon S90) in all sorts of positions. Plus, it looks cute.
The only thing I'm not so happy about is the little ring that is supposed to lock the release button -- it seems really loose, and like it could just accidentally be twisted to unlock. I am a bit worried that somehow this could lead to a camera dropping and getting damaged. I even considered returning the Gorillapod for that reason, but then decided that the resistance in the release button itself should be enough to make my camera safe.
