Customer Review: Beware of older phones...

I ordered this for my wife who has a first-generation Motorola RAZR from T-Mobile. Apparently, her phone's Bluetooth implementation isn't compatible -- despite multiple attempts, I haven't been able to get her phone to pair with the Jabra.
I have had better luck with my more-recent Sony Ericsson K750i, which works quite well with the Jabra, except that the Bluetooth connection keeps dropping intermittently (and subsequently reconnecting) while I'm not on the phone, despite the fact that the phone is no more than 6 inches away from the Jabra.
We're both looking forward to testing this speakerphone with the 2nd-gen iPhone when it comes out, but until then, the Jabra stays in the box.

I found this product simple to use and effective. The Bluetooth pairing with my Samsung Blackjack was easy and connected on the first try. I use this while on the road either between meetings of on the commute with conference calls. The battery life seems very good and sound quality is also good on both ends. I am able to pair the system by simply turning the unit on and it finds the phone without issue. I have noted that at highway speeds this can be a little hard to hear so placement is important. The design is slim and fits in very well on the visor. I don't link the ear-bud headsets so this is a great alternative since my car lacks integration with the phone. Good product.

With this speakerphone I can now follow the rule that is set to take effect in CA on 1 July. Very easy to use, set up was a breeze. Wish that it was easier to hear the ringing sound when you call someone while the car is in motion - the road noise drowned out the ringing. But it was more than loud enough having a conversation while driving. Friends have told me that my voice sounded somewhat tinny, but nothing different from most any other hands free device. They did say they could hear me clearly enough and that they couldn't hear the road noise I was hearing in my car. Very good item, wish it came with a home charger instead of just a car charger, hence only a 4 star rating from me.Customer Review: Does what it's supposed to do

Due to the California law, I needed to get a handsfree device. The reviews were good on the Jabra SP5050 so I got one and tried it and then had my wife try it. It was simple enough for her to be happy so I bought a second one.
If your phone Bluetooth is on (which shortens battery life) and you turn on the SP5050 it hooks up with your phone and you're good to go. If you leave the SP5050 over 30 or 40 feet and are gone for 15 minutes or so, it automatically turns off. It's simple and works well. If the volume is too low and you can't get it high enough on the SP5050 you can try increasing the volume on your phone. I have been happy with the performance and volume.

It is OK, it is easy to use, it pairs quickly. Battery life is good, and it looks great. However, the start of calls are always "static-y", it gets better as the call continues, but I got tired of waiting and asking people to wait. The led lights are difficult to read, and the speaker was not powerful enough to overcome freeway noise, I found myself moving it around trying to find a closer location than the visor. It's a good price, but I would rather pay more and get a GREAT working speakerphone. I am returning it and will look for a replacement. Only 3 out of 5 stars, it is better than the Motorola T305 it replaced. Hopefully I find the ONE soon...
