Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Jabra SP5050 Bt SpeakerphoneCustomer Review: Easy to use with bad audio Summary: 3 Stars
I've used this unit for about a week on my daily commute with my Samsung Upstage which has the bad habit of being too loud for voice dial and too quiet when a person is on the phone. I'd hoped the speaker phone would help the problem. I could only hear the person on the other end if the speaker is on maximum volume, which makes dialing almost unbearable it is so loud.
While this is a bit of a problem with headsets I've owned, it's never been as bad as with this speaker phone. The volume for voice calls is still too quiet. While this may be attributed more to the phone, I've never had a hard time understanding callers with headsets.
Other than that, synchronizing the phone was incredibly easy and making calls only takes the push and hold of the button.
Because of the sound issues though, the Jabra has been returned.
Customer Review: Works so far. Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this item based on the reviews. Well guess what, the darn thing actually works. When I bought it there were no additional pictures that now exist on the website. The pictures make it easier to see what you are getting. The speakerphone MUST be plugged into your CAR power source to get the initial charge. Takes about 2 to 3 hours of driving to get the phone charged. As said in other reviews your cellphone MUST be turned up to max volume and the Jabra MUST to turned up to MAX volume to hear those talking to you. Sound is fairly clear although the Jabra speaker is small. The instructions that come with the phone are average with lots of misspelling (example "our" is suppose to be "your"). Makes a different when you are trying to figure out what to do. I MUCH prefer using this speaker phone that having some piece of plastic in my ear.
Customer Review: I like it Summary: 4 Stars
Overall, I am very pleased with this unit. It is small. Easy to use. The battery holds up well and charges from the car cord in a couple of hours. I have used it to carry on long conversations and that is where it really shines. The volume is a little low at highway speeds in my Honda Accord but it is useable. On city streets or stopped in traffic it is great. I have asked people who I talk to if I need to pick up the phone and they say no they can hear me fine. Once in a while I have to use the "Use Bluetooth" menu to get it to reconnect if I have been out of range and the units loose connection but that is just a couple of clicks on my Motorola Razor 3x. Many times I get back to the car and it just connects and we are ready to go. Other than the volume limitation on the highway I'd give it a 5 star....So it is pretty good unit....
Customer Review: Easy to use, easy to set-up. Summary: 4 Stars
I have used this for about 6 months now and love it. It works without thinking. The sound quality is a good as a cell phone, and works with one hand. (duh). You never have to look at it, the lights are unobtrusive and can be turned off.
I even bought one for a friend.
NOTE: This unit is apparently discontinued. The low prices you will find will most likely be what the vendors call bulk packaging. You will get a device and charger in a zip lock baggie. This may or may not be new. they say it is but having been in retail, I suspect that the manufacturer returns are cleaned and shipped this way to retailers. Works fine and is cheap. You should be aware however. May come without returns allowed. I bought one new and the second was the zip lock.
At least the zip lock can be reused for you stash...
Customer Review: I THOUGHT I liked it, but... Summary: 3 Stars
I got it at Costco for $50. I had it about a month when the tactile 'click' was gone. Now you have to press hard (how hard?) on the body until it beeps. The message beeps, which vary depending on what you are doing, have gotten very weak in volume, so you have to really strain to tell when it has come on, gone off, etc.
The volume is ok if it is all the way up and you are NOT on the freeway. If you are on the freeway, it is not loud enough (for me). I swing the visor around so it is over the side window. That way the speaker is next to my ear. It is still a bit too low (for me). The caller can hear me but don't count on any rave reviews.
I would take it back, but it's probably too late, and I'm too lazy anyway. I'm looking for the perfect bluetooth headset right now, but IT doesn't exist either.
