Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Jabra SP5050 Bt Speakerphone

Customer Review: Good for answering, not good for dialing
Summary: 2 Stars

This speakerphone paired easily with my motorola U9 (I assume similar to later model Razrs). The call clarity was good on receive, BUT...

for dialing, I expected that it would somehow work with my phone's built in voice dialing (like pressing the button once would activate voice dial). There is no documentation describing that this would be the case, but I guess it was my expectation since my phone's wired headset works this way, and I expected the bluetooth speakerphone would work this way as well. For my phone, hitting the Jabra button would dial the last number that I dialed.

Anyway, that was a very big downside for me, so I returned it an bought a motorola T305 (since it was made by my phone manufacturer), and this worked as I expected in this regard.

I think the Jabra is a fine option for people that just want to be able to answer calls though, and not miss one because your driving.

Customer Review: Excellent clarity, volume, & battery life
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this product for a month and love it. Very good sound quality for both sides of the call. Volume is loud enough that I can hear with no problem and the people on the receiving end have told me that the volume tends to be a little on the loud side...so there is no need to "elevate" your voice like you do with many speakerphones. You can "press and hold" the button for about 3 seconds and it will activate the voice dial feature on my phone. It was super easy to sync (I have a Motorola Krzr phone). The battery life is impressive. After a month of use I have only charged it the initial time. I use it almost every day on my drive home from work (about 15 minutes) and also fairly often on the weekends. The profile is very slim so you could easily toss this into your briefcase or purse. I've been very pleased with the quality and ease of use. I highly recommend it and would definitely buy it again.

Customer Review: Speaker volume is way too low, custom charger is stupid
Summary: 2 Stars

I read another review warning that the volume may be low with some phones, even at maximum volume and that is indeed true for me with my a nokia E61 and a motorola phone I borrowed. The motorola was actually just slighly louder and almost usable at freeway speeds, but just barely. With the nokia, at full volume I just can't hear well enough to make out 100% of the conversation, and I have good hearing (again at freeway speeds).
I don't understand how jabra could go through all the trouble of making this product and then skim on the amplification.

Also, it is just stupid that jabra is still in the business of making custom chargers with custom plugs and voltages. This is just something I cannot support, 5V mini USB or nothing!
I suggest you buy a MOTOROKR T505 instead, which is what I got for myself (it has better volume and can transmit the call to an FM station on your radio).

Customer Review: Doesn't pair - useless to me
Summary: 1 Stars

This looked like an interesting and relatively low-cost option for my wife's car/cell phone, since she hasn't found a bluetooth headset that fits her ear comfortably. Unfortunately, we cannot get this unit to pair with any of three cell phones (iPhone 3G, two new Nokias). It goes into pairing mode as advertised, but none of our phones can find it (they all find all of the headsets and computers we have tried pairing with other than this unit). Makes this rather useless, and I would strongly suggest testing your phone against one of these before ordering.

Also disappointed in the lack of a USB or AC charger. My fault for not noticing that this only comes with a car charger - not very convenient for how we typically charge.

No issues with the merchant - quickly shipped and delivered just fine. The low rating here is about the speakerphone, not the merchant.

Customer Review: Insist on AC charging?
Summary: 5 Stars

Good quality manufacture, clear sound, pleasing looks, and Bluetooth 2.0 (pairs easily with my Motorola W385 and maintains strong connections) are what I found in the Jabra SP5050 speakerphone. The attached visor clip is fine and thin, non-damaging to the visor, and slightly angled providing some support when laid on a desktop or table. The operating lights are not distracting to me in day or night driving, and I haven't used the night driving mode. Easy operation by brief press or press and hold sequences with one hand. The car charger is the only provided power option, but I searched among Amazon's other products and found a suitable adapter for AC charging indoors.
