Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of JBuds J2 Premium Hi-Fi Noise-Isolating Earbuds -Onyx BlackCustomer Review: A step up without breaking the bank... Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
These earbuds are certainly a step up from the basic white headphones that usually come with an iPod or most basic MP3 players. The difference is they are inserted in the ear, and a silicon guard acts as an earplug to drown out noise around you. It can be an odd feeling when you first get them if you're not used to things in your ear canal. It is called "noise isolating" because frankly you are wearing ear plugs with speakers in them.
The sound is superior mainly because of the bass. It seems these headphones excel at thumping out the lower lines in any track, and you'll truly notice a difference on R&B or dance tracks. I noticed the mid range tones and highs had to be adjusted on my equalizer to get them at the levels I liked. Most of the noise cancelling qualities are provided from the ear plug design, and they do a great job of drowning out sound. Almost too well as I find myself really having to pay attention at the gym when I have these on, or I will miss anyone speaking to me.
The packaging and look of the headphones are slick, and the more adventurous can select from a wide color assortment including mixtures of two tones. All in all the presentation of the product looks great! If you want a cool looking headphone these work.
If you like loud music without much noise from the outside world seeping in these are the earbuds for you! They are well-designed, affordably priced, and come in a myriad of color choices. The only downside is you have to get used to the ear plug feel of them, and be careful to make sure you select the right size for the guard to keep these in place in your ear (small, medium, and large come included with the set). It's a nice product and one most people should enjoy as an upgrade from the ordinairy head phone.
Customer Review: Great value earbuds, great sound Summary: 5 Stars
Let me preface this review with the fact that I have owned several pairs of earphones over the years, from cheapo over-the-ear-clip sony's to premium zune earbuds, to audiophile grade cans like the sennheiser hd-590 and 280 pros.
FOR THE PRICE, these are the best headphones I've ever purchased hands down. I decided to switch to earbuds since I listen to music all day pretty much at work while programming, and decided over the ear headphones left bad hair rings (you know what I'm talking about if you've had them) around my ears, and was kind of annoying. So I switched first to the earbuds from my Zune, which are not bad since they come free with Zune gen2 pmps. So I decided to go shopping to see what was out there, and came across the J2's and was surprised by the reviews being so good for such reasonably priced headphones.
When I read a particularly mediocre review, and found that in the comments a company representative had actually responded, I was sold. If they care that much about what people are saying, then I know they are serious about standing behind their product and listening to customer feedback. Ordered and received the next day through my Prime membership.
At first, I was not too pleased with the tinny sound, but knew that all great headphones need burn-in time, so I left them on for nearly 2 days straight, and now a week later, the sound is full and the tinny sound has all but disappeared. Although comparing them to $150+ headphones is unfair, these really do quite a good job, although I don't think anybody can expect in-ear headphones to be as full and powerful as their over-the-ear counterparts simply due to physics. Compared to my Zune earbuds, these provide much better mid-range sound, with ample bass which my zune buds just didn't have.
With that said, you will be hard pressed to find a better value for your money for some in-ear buds that will leave your hair headphone-matted free, while still being able to enjoy your tunes within reasonable expectations.
Customer Review: Definitely worth buying! Summary: 5 Stars
I got these a few weeks ago and I was truly impressed with the quality they offered. I used to own SkullCandy Ink'd headphones, and I thought they were absolutely amazing. Now looking back, they were nothing more than average compared to these guys. I was hearing parts of songs that I never even knew existed before. They are not like SkullCandy's in the aspect of how they fit, however. The earbud itself is more comfortable than any other earbud I've ever used, and the rubbery part feels softer than the SkullCandy ones. They don't go all the way into your ear canal, so sound is not entirely blocked out when no music is playing, but when music is playing it is almost impossible to hear anything else. Quality is fantastic, the music is very clear. I gave these as a gift to my brother who had never used anything but Apple's standard earbuds. In less than an hour he was in love with the sound they produced. Construction is of the cord is very solid, and I have yet to have any problems with them even while keeping them in my pocket for hours everyday. The only problem I have with them is the plastic on the ear bud itself feels cheap. It's quite durable, but I just don't like how they feel (not while in your ear, while you're holding them). It's just a personal thing I guess, I'd rather have some type of metal or heavier plastic than feel like the ear bud is only supported by a moderately light plastic. Overall, you can't go wrong getting these. They are fantastic for their price, about 20 dollars when shipping is added. I definitely recommend getting these!
EDIT:
I purchased a set of J3's a few months ago because my cat attacked my J2's and ripped them to shreds. If you are contemplating buying these or the J3's, Go with THESE!!! They J2's are much better than the newer version, sound is more upbeat and music is much more fun to listen to. J2's are just an overall better deal than the J3's. Trust me, you won't regret your decision.
Customer Review: Works Like an Earplug, Decent Performance Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The day I got these earbuds, I was getting some work done on my laptop when my toddler daughter walked into the room to watch a movie. Not wanting to hear "Toy Story" dialog for the bazillionth time, I popped the JBuds in, tuned to internet radio and prayed the "noise isolation" would live up to the claim and save the day.
I'm happy to report I wasn't disappointed! Even fifteen feet away from the TV, the sound of the JBuds headphones completely drowned out the the movie unless there was a silent pause in the music.
The JBuds accomplish the isolation by forming a seal in your ear canal that acts similarly to an ear plug. This is an effective design, but one that can be uncomfortable at times.
You may notice from the pictures of the product, the long, slim body of the headphone is designed to go be wedged straight into the ear as opposed to wider, flatter designs like the Apple Earbud Headphones (White) that are designed to hang loosely. Be prepared for this, as it may not be what you're used to with your existing earbuds!
As far as performance, they are what you'd expected at this price point. They're close to the sound quality of Apple's similarly priced OEM earbuds, but feature "noise isolation". The JBuds don't come close to capturing sound like the high-end Monster Beats by Dr. Dre Studio High-Definition Headphones, which I also recently had the chance to review, but then the JBuds cost a fraction of the price!
Overall, I'd recommend the headphones. They are effective at controlling noise and delivering decent sound. You can't go wrong for what you pay!
Customer Review: Nice price, decent quality. Summary: 2 Stars
I decided to purchase a set of these for a Christmas present to myself this past holiday season. After looking at many other sets on this site and others, and checking out the reviews, I decided on these. The price was good and the quality was also, from what I had read. There was not a lot of bad reviews regarding this product.
When I received them I followed what I read about burning them in and ran them for a night at half volume. The sound was good, but didn't have the volume output that my old Vmoda set did, which was not a problem for me as I generally only use my MP3 for 12-24 hours a week. Mainly they are used when I'm out shooting darts once a week so I can listen to my music and not get distracted by other things, get in my own zone so to say. That was when the problem began.
One of the channel sides stopped putting out sound. Thinking that the plug somehow came out, I checked it, unplugged and replugged, and still only one side played. Then I started playing with the cord by the plug and sure enough I got both channels to play. Thinking I had another MP3 player that the headphone jack became loose, I tried my old ones and they worked fine. I then took these and put them in my old player and only one side worked. I was glad to know it wasn't the MP3 player as it was only a couple of months old.
Apparently there must be a loose connection or broken wires in the section just after the plug, which I don't understand how that can happen when it is supposed to be reinforced according to the sites product description and the cord has never gotten snagged by anything. Now I will have to make do with older headphones that don't sound quite as good because I can't afford to get a new set. It really sucks to get something that only lasts 6 months, and does not get used but for a few hours a week. I hope that nobody else winds up with a set like I did, especially if you enjoy your music while doing things like myself.
