Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of JBuds J2 Premium Hi-Fi Noise-Isolating Earbuds (Black/Chrome Silver)

Customer Review: Ok product, but GREAT service
Summary: 4 Stars

I was looking for a pair of ok earbuds when I came across this one. There were many feedbacks on this item, but the one that got me was the fact their customer service was rated top notch. Since I don't ask much out of this pair of earbuds, I decided to give this pair a try.

PRO:
This product looks good and feels good. Sound quality was decent, but I am no expert with sound. The cords don't tangle up as easily as other earbuds. I contacted JBud with an email after 2 weeks of usage about the earbuds not functioning. They replied the next day and promised to replace my item. After 1-2 weeks of waiting (standard ground shipping), the new exact item arrived. I did not open it to test it yet (its been 2 months), because I went back to my old earbuds. However, I do appreciate their efforts.

CON:
Earbuds are too big in my case. It hurts my ear canal from time to time, especially when I am lying in bed on my side. The right bud stopped producing sound after 2 weeks of usuage. The connector also seems like it needs upgrade because the signal from my IPOD to the earbuds can be scratchy at times.

Overall: I would rate this product 3/5 but gave it 4/5 for its customer service. I would probably not buy this particular model again. However, if JBud improves the product, I will gladly try it out.

Customer Review: Great pear of earbuds for $15, but build quality could be much better
Summary: 4 Stars

I got my pair of earbuds in late January of 2010. These were bought to supplement my pair of $100 Sennheiser headphones, as it is not practical to carry those everywhere I go. I let them break in for 1-2 days before I used them, as JLabs themselves recommended. The sound quality and range are pretty impressive for $15 earbuds, although the sound is a bit muddy or muffled. They also do a pretty good job at blocking out sound. Great for people who want to ditch their Apple earbuds, as these are far superior and half the price. However, after about 7 months of use (these haven't really been in heavy use since June), the connection between the cable and the connector is starting to fail. As a result, the audio will either cut out completely or mostly/completely go to one channel if the cord isn't positioned correctly; not impressive after less than a year of use. I never registered my product with them, that's my fault, so it looks like I'll be buying a replacement pair soon.

My verdict: Good. Better than my $100 Sennheiser headphones? No, but they make a good pair of headphones for jogging, working out at the gym, etc.; I still will use my Sennheisers whenever they are practical. The cord design could use improvement, so the cord doesn't get separated from the connector under normal use.

Customer Review: Great for wearing, but where's the sound?! [At first ... GREAT SERVICE]
Summary: 3 Stars

These earbuds are most definitely some of the sturdiest I've owned. The connection point for the two earbuds is one of the best I've seen and trust me as a music addict who's constantly listening to music I've gone through my fair share of earbud that range from Panasonic, Sony, Sennheiser, Apple, and now JLabs.

The construction is solid and these seem like they'll last me the longest and fit quite well. They come with 3 sizes of caps so try out each to find the most comfort.

The one problem with these JLabs is the sound quality I've been receiving from them. They are decent, but I feel like the range isn't very impressive and most importantly clarity. The speakers sound muddled and nowhere near as clear as the Sennheiser CX300's I own (lining is broken, but still functional). The bass on the JLab's is mediocre and I just don't seem to have the same musical experience.

I'm sorry JLabs, your idea was right, but the quality just doesn't match. I'm just hoping that I'm the exception and got a bad pair of headphones. Instead of creating fancy boxes that make the JLabs look like high quality earbuds, money would be better spent on R&D for better sound quality.

[Note the change in opinion below, JLabs has top notch customer service]

Customer Review: Good Earbuds--STELLAR Customer Support!
Summary: 4 Stars

The Jlab Audio J2 earbuds are comfortable and have good sound quality for an earbud. They had better bass than other earbuds I've used, though not as good as headphones (no surprise).

The buds overall length is 52 inches from the tip of the phono plug to the base of the earbuds. The "Y" where the buds branch is 36 inches from the tip of the plug.

The J2s look to be a quality product, with a decent sturdy-looking cable and strain relief at every cable junction with other components. My J2's lost sound in the right bud after about 10 weeks of almost daily use, which would normally severely degrade any review--but it's a PLUS in this case.

JLabs Audio's customer service is the BEST I've ever experienced! After reading a few other reviews here about their good customer service, I contacted them about my broken J2s. I got a reply the same day, apologizing for my bad experience, and asking for details of my purchase, with a promise to replace them.

I sent my info, and got another quick reply that my buds would be sent out that day. Today (only 3 days later) I got my new buds! Truly an amazing experience! I would not hesitate to buy any other JLab Audio product, with this kind of customer support behind it!

Customer Review: Great product AND customer service
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm one of those very wired people who walk around with headphones on all the time, and as such, I've gone through a LOT of different headphones/earphones/earbuds. I find earbuds to be the most comfortable for prolonged use, and I found these on Amazon for a great price, so I decided to try them out.

These buds are GREAT. They're super comfortable -- I've even fallen asleep several times, while wearing these -- and you just can't beat the sound quality. I used to switch to Coby Sport Isolation Stereo Earphones CVE93 (Black) for running, and the differences in sound quality would throw me off so much that I stopped switching.

And then one day the inevitable happened: the J2's stopped working properly, with the sound erratically going in and out, usually in one ear or the other. Since the Amazon purchase came with a 1-year warranty, I emailed the JLab customer service, and my replacement pair arrived in the mail 4 days later! What's more, the replacement comes with its own 1-year warranty, so if I have problems again, I can simply contact JLab again for help.

All in all, this product is awesome, totally worth it.
