Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of JBuds Hi-Fi Noise-Reducing Ear Buds (White)Customer Review: JLABS does not honor warranty... (UPDATE: now they do!) Summary: 1 Stars
I bought my jbuds about 10 months ago and was initially quite happy with their quality. Recently one of the ear phones has stopped working --- the audio goes off and on when you move the cord around, but mostly it is off..
I assume that the internal wire has frayed, and reading other reviews it seems that this is a very common problem with these ear phones.
Since my jbuds are within the warranty period, I contacted the company for an in-warranty replacement, but they have ignored two emails and do not pick up their customer service line!
UPDATE:
JLABS has contacted me, saying that they have hired a new customer service rep and have renewed a commitment to customer service. They sent me a replacement set of jbuds with a free case and jblaster to apologize for the delay. If amazon would let me, I would now update my review to four stars.
Customer Review: Stuff them well into your ears or they'll fall out Summary: 3 Stars
When these are tucked rather far into my ears, they're generally great. I don't have to adjust the volume when I walk down a noisier sidewalk, as I did with my original iPod ear buds. I mostly use my iPod to listen to podcasts, and they all sound good with this product.
However, I've found three problems. 1. When I don't jam them into my ears (and I've tried the various covers), they fall out very easily. 2. Because of how they fit, it's absolutely necessary to pull them out whenever you want to talk to someone (not the case with my previous pair). 3. There's some sweet spot near the jack that causes my iPod to pause whenever I hit it (accidentally). So I press play, put my iPod in my pocket, and have to pull it out once in a while to slide the switch and press play again. It's clearly a defect and I'll try to get a replacement pair, but I would recommend another product.
Customer Review: Good, not near great... Summary: 3 Stars
I just got a pair of these and I'll keep this short and to the point! Search for SkullCandy Ink'd and buy a pair of those instead. Depending on the color you choose those can also be picked up for [...]. These JBuds are OK, and probably worth 10 bucks, but the Skull Candy Ink'd model sound much, much better. The highs are higher and more crisp and the lows have a lot more bass as well. (The Jbuds have more of a muffled sound to them.) I also own a pair of Skull Candy Full Metal Jackets and those are incredible as well. Those will set you back 70 dollars or so but very much worth it if you are serious about your music. BTW I bought 6 pair of the Ink'd buds at Christmas for everyone in my family and all of them are still working just beautifully!
I have read that these JBuds need a little "breaking in" so if things improve I'll stop back by and edit this review.
Customer Review: Break Easily, But Good Customer Service Replaced Them Summary: 1 Stars
My pair broke in less than three weeks. When I said so on a review on Amazon, an apparently automated message tried to convince me that this was an isolated incident (which it isn't; look at the other 1 star reviews) and told me to contact customer support, who would be happy to resolve this issue and give a replacement pair. I sent an email, waited several weeks, sent another email, waited several weeks. Still no reply. Don't buy from this company. The headphones have a high likelihood of breaking, and if they do, it is impossible to contact customer support anyways.
UPDATE 9/12/09: Apparently they had problems with their customer service person not answering any emails sent to him. I appears have have resolved this, and I received a replacement pair, and a free carrying case. This was very nice of them. I cant change the star rating to reflect this, though.
Customer Review: Not a good buy Summary: 1 Stars
I've owned many headphones over the years. The last pair I had came with my ipod and I used them for about 4 years until they broke. I didn't want to spend $30 on a pair of headphones right now (which is what the Apple ones cost), so I bought these instead. The reviews were good enough and it was reduced from $49.95 to $9.95. While the sound quality is pretty good (better than the apple), they are extremely uncomfortable! You have to push them all the way inside your ear for them to hold on, which hurts after awhile. And the right earbud doesn't fit very well in my ear and keeps popping out, so I have to push it harder and harder, which hurts even more. It is very frustrating. I will give these away to someone who wants them and buy some other brand. I recommend that you TRY THEM ON FIRST so see if they fit your ear and if they are comfortable, before you buy them.
