Customer Review: Can't beat it for the price + AWESOME customer service
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought a set of these last year and was quite happy with them. I am not that big on gadgets and music, so spending more than $10 on earphones was just not going to happen. The earphones fit well, with three pairs of adjustable pads to choose from to insert in your ears. Sound is good, and noise is considerably reduced, even on planes, which was my main reason for buying them. They do not reduce noise as much as higher cost earphones (I tested them against a pair from Sennheiser) nor do they reproduce sound as faithfully, but for my purposes, the difference was not worth the extra expense. Those who are more demanding on sound quality or noise cancellation may want to try one of the higher end JLab models.

About two weeks ago the left channel gave out. When I emailed JLab Audio about it, they had me check the earphones on a couple of different pieces of equipment and run a track test on them (which is only fair). When this confirmed there was something wrong with the earphones, they immediately mailed out a replacement, which arrived within a week of my first email to them. If that were not enough, the replacement also carries a one year warranty! All for ten bucks.

Although I was content with the earphones before, now I am a fan for good. It is just not that easy to find such outstanding customer service. Even if I were to upgrade, I would pick another JLab product and have the confidence that the company will stand behind it.

Customer Review: Good Value at This Price Point

While these JBUDS did not, in a side by side comparison, provide as much surrounding, warm sound as my Sennheiser 212 headphones, they provided excellent clarity, especially on KJAZZ radio. Talk formats are also excellent. The comfort is surprisingly good for an in-ear bud. For 20 dollars, this is a great substitute for the cheaper buds that come with most MP3 players.

Update on 12-21-06: I've come to be more impressed with my JBuds over the last two weeks, marvelling at the bright, crisp, and yes, warm sound that comes out of these inexpensive buds. Perhaps, as I've read in some of the headphone information that is out there, that there is a "breaking in" period, which has something to do with loosening the tranducer. In any event, I'd have to give these JBuds another star.

Second Update 10-8-07: My only complaint about the JBuds is that sleeping with them at night I will sometimes wake up and the bud will have fallen off. I can't secure the buds to my satisfaction; however, the JBuds are so comfortable I deal with this problem.

Third Update 1-7-08: The sound is not quite as good as the slightly more expensive V-Moda; however, the JBuds are easier on my ears for long-term (I sleep with them on) listening. Also the JBuds have a longer extension and don't pull out of the radio or iPod headphone jack as easily as the V-Modas, so again on balance the JBuds are better.

Customer Review: listening with them for 2 years now -every day

I use them with my sangean portable radio every day for the past two years and those jlabs in-ear speakers never failed me: not one minute, not one hour ,not one day. I would say that for the occasional, everyday walking those are more than perfect, good sound quality, good noise reduction, no noise interference, not to speak the awesome price. Some say they break easily well, I would say maybe your player connection is not proper. I can say that I do abuse them, carrying them in my bag everyday, pulling on them sometimes. Got them back in 2006 , it is now October 2008 and they are still working. I am ordering a second pair just to be sure I have a spare pair .. because everything good in life don't last forever.

Update: more than three years now, one pair died, the wire connection at one of the buds broke, and now ordered two more pairs. I have compared them with another set of earbuds, more expensive, by another company and I have to tell: The jlabs buds have no compairson: the price and the sound quality blows all others away. What do they have done better? the wires are not blowing my movements noises in my ears while walking, jogging, exercising like other buds do. BIG DIFFERENCE. Small price worth every penny and beyond.
They do break after a while but I will keep buying them over and over. Ten bucks every two-three years is the best deal. Thank you, JLabs!

Cons:
*the cord is about 7 in. longer than the standard ipod ear buds cord. a little too long if you ask me.
*the max volume on my ipod will BLOW OUT anyones eardrums with these earbuds. BE CAREFUL to check the volume level before you put these earbuds in, as i have once painstakingly forgotten to do, and it was LOUDDD.
*Also the volume doesnt get very low. believe it or not, when i have the volume control on zero on my ipod, i can STILL slightly hear the music playing!! i have not exeperienced that with any other earbuds... i dont like that.
*i was using the middle sized silicone buds, but when the earbuds were accidentally yanked out of my ear while running, one of them came unattached, and i lost it. This happened to me more than once, and they dont stay on well when the earbuds are jerked out of my ears. so i down graded to the smallest size (which hasnt come unattached when the earbuds are jerked out of my ear, which is nice to know that i wont loose them. but i wish i still had both of my middle sized silicone buds)

Pros
definitely better earbuds than what came with my ipod... but what earbuds arent?? lol
the cord is sturdy
the sound is good, its very clear.
the cords havent cut short yet, the wires seem built well, as the earbuds h ave been yanked on, and have held up.

hope this helps!

Customer Review: Great for the price

I bought the JBuds based on the hundreds of reviews on amazon. I use them with an iPod Nano 3g. My taste in music is eclectic . . . from all rock generes to all blues, jazz, and classical music genres. This is how well the JBuds performed:

For jazz, classical, world beat and soft dynamic music with acoustic instrumentals by artists like Pat Metheny, and vocals like Norah Jones, and Rossa Pasos, the JBuds perform very well. Rich warm base and midrange with clean, clear separation of tones.

For rock in general the JBuds capture the low end very well. But the highs and midrange mingle sacraficing both. The ride and crash cymbals in Nirvana's 'Lithium' don't carry and the snare lacks pop. It's the same story with Weazer, Muse, STP, Led Zeppelin, etc.

For industrial and electronic based music including techno the JBuds convey the beat well. NIN, Paul Oakenfold, Zero 7, etc. sound tight . . . electronic percussions come through clearly.

R&B, blues, soul, sound pretty good with JBuds. Alicia Keys, Pink, Seal, old Motown stuff, The Black Keys, SRV, Hendrix, especially guitar solos, sound good.

If your taste is limited to music with aggressive monster percussions, this product is average. But for about 20 bucks, they're a good buy for all around use and especially for acoustic, electronic and jazz music.
