Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of JBuds Hi-Fi Noise-Reducing Ear Buds (Black)Customer Review: (4/5) Almost 2,000 Reviews! Here's mine Summary: 4 Stars
So almost 2,000 people reviewed this product and as of this moment there are 705 that gave it 5 stars, 495+1 (me) that gave it 4 stars, 285 that gave it 3 stars, 250 that gave it 2 stars, 228 that gave it 1 star.
So what does this all mean? Well basically, it means that we're all trying to look for the cheapest product that will deliver the most bang.
Now first off, I must say, DO NOT expect incredible results because these ear buds are dirt cheap and you really get what you pay for. These ear buds aren't terrible, but they aren't excellent either. Now we all know that the majority of the ear buds we get that comes in the package with the product we buy are typically never better than ear buds we actually buy. Well this is a true case for this product. To keep this short, these ear buds are definitely better than the stock ear buds I got but at the same time these ear buds do not meet my expectations for the level of clarity and depth of bass. There really is a reason why Shure can list their ear buds for over $[...] while these are under $[...] so with that, here's my pro(s) and con(s):
Pro(s):
- Dirt cheap
- Cord has a good amount of length
- Decent sound quality for the basic user or for last resort audio needs
- Small
- Comes with 2 additional sizes of silicone ear buds
Con(s):
- The inner ear bud, where the sound comes from does not have a moisture padding so if you have wet ears or just took a shower, do not use
- If you have small ear holes, the packages includes smaller silicone buds BUT because the ear buds are quite big, they probably wouldn't fit inside your ear and stay
- You have to read which side is left and which side is right
- Not exactly easy to put on/replace the silicone ear buds on the buds itself
Recommendation(s)/Suggestion(s):
- None
Bottom line is these ear buds are cheap and the best example for you get what you pay
Customer Review: Basically, disappointed... Summary: 2 Stars
This review is basically a direct comparison of the JBuds and V-MODA Bass Freq Earbuds - Bling Bling Black. Both being "cheap" earbuds, I felt they needed to be compared.
I bought these because my V-MODAs were left at my father's place, which is approx. 4,000 miles or so from my place. I was without a pair of earbuds and really needed some, so I figured I would try these out since they were cheap but got great looking reviews. Sigh...
FEEL:
- The fit is somewhat comfortable, but for me, quite a bit less comfortable than the V-MODAs. The rubber buds are completely flimsy, almost like the consistency of a popped balloon.
AMBIENT NOISE:
- For these to be called "Noise-Reducing" is a complete joke. With these in my ears I could clearly hear the outside world both with music on and off. I tried different rubber covers, angles in my ears, etc. to no avail. The V-MODAs hands down win in this department. They actually almost feel like noise-cancelling buds.
SOUND:
- I don't know if it's because of the amount of air or ambient noise from the outside world, but the sound is very tinny, weak, and basically gives you a headache at mid-range volume levels. There is pretty much ZERO bass response. All the other sounds just mesh together. One plus, is they do have great volume boost, meaning I had to turn the volume down with these headphones to get the same volume level as with the V-MODAs.
So, in conclusion, if you are looking at both these and the V-MODAs and don't know which ones to pick, get the V-MODAs. They win across the board.
PROS
- Inexpensive
- Loud
- Black
- Semi-comfortable
CONS
- Do not reduce noise at all
- No bass response
- Low quality sound gives headaches
- Cheap rubber + construction
- I paid money for them
Customer Review: Like My Buds Summary: 4 Stars
For ten bucks you can't go wrong with this comfortable pair of ear buds. I bought mine to use mostly with a small Sony radio that I listen to every night before falling asleep. I've gone through countless pairs of earphones that lasted from a month to a year before being replaced. Most sets of ear buds I've used before have been uncomfortable but produced acceptable sound.
The Jbuds are the most comfortable set I've worn to date. They fit my ears perfectly and fit deeply enough into the ear canal to stay put. Included with the buds are two additonal sets of rubber tips of different sizes for those who desire them.
What about sound? I am by no means an audiophile so for my needs these earphones far exceed any requirements I may have.
Just to test them out I hooked up the Jbuds into the Bose speakers hooked up to my computer. The sound reproduction is terrific and is as good or better than the sound from my Maxell headphones. Using the Jbuds I've noticed subtle background instrumentation that I hadn't detected before.
No, these aren't state of the art sound reproducers, but for someone with modest needs and expectations the jbuds are a good choice.
Durability - I use these buds every night. Sometimes they fall on the floor, or get tangled in knots, or get lost in the blankets, or even get pawed by Evie the bichon who tries to move them out of her way. They've lasted several months now unscathed and still sound as good as ever.
One more thing - The directions in the little booklet that comes with the buds says that they need to be broken in, perhaps played continuously for a day. Being a skeptic, I didn't believe that for a second. Yet, over time the sound through these buds does seem to have improved. The first time I tried them, the musical instruments sounded clear and crisp but the vocals sounded muted and distant. Now all is fine. Explaining or understanding such things is beyond this Potato Head.
Customer Review: Great headphones, amazing price Summary: 5 Stars
Let me just say this right up front: these are by far the most comfortable "in-ear" headphones that I've ever used. I'm pretty picky when it comes to headphones, but these are actually everything I was looking for (and come at a price that's more than reasonable). I got the first black iPod a couple of years ago right when it came out, and one of the first things I noticed about it was that Apple - which is usually spot-on when it comes to design and aesthetics - made the terrible decision to stick with their iconic white headphones even on the black iPod. On top of the color mismatch looking bad, the headphones themselves kept slipping out of my ears. This was true even if I was just sitting on the subway, and of course was even worse if I was jogging or being active. Between now and then I've tried at least half a dozen different earbuds in an effort to improve the form (namely, black to match my iPod), and function (ones that would comfortably stay in my ears). I've tried some with active noise canceling and others with passive noise reduction, and in the process I've spent as much as $80 for a pair.
After all that, this tiresome quest is finally over. The JBuds are comfortable enough to fall asleep with, but secure enough to stay snugly in place even during vigorous exercise. The sound quality is excellent - crisp treble, clear mids, and surprisingly rich bass, all with outstanding clarity and separation. I'm actually hearing instrumentation in layers of production that I've never heard before (in music that I've been listening to for years no less!). Oh, and they're black, so they look much better with my black iPod. I'd highly recommend these if you're thinking of getting some better headphones for yourself or for someone else as a gift. There's simply not a better pair on the market in anywhere close to this price range.
The bottom line: outstanding headphones, unbelievable price.
Customer Review: The worse!!! don't buy these! Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased these Jbuds Hi-Fi Noise-Reducing Ear Buds for $10, the Skullcandy S2INBT-UB INK'D Earbuds for $13, and the JVC HAFX34B Marshmallow Headphones for $12, all at the same time. I also own a couple of the sennheisser cx300 (paid $17 from another site)(if you go to bensbargains.net, they show when they go on sale) and the CXL400 (sound a bit better than the cx300 but hated the lanyard, so I gave them away), Of all of these at $10-18 price range, the cx300 overall are the best ones, or if you don't mind the lanyard, get the cxl400, 2nd I would go with the skullcandy, follow by the JVCs and way last are these, the Jbuds, they sound , feel and look cheap compare to the other ones. Of the 3 cheaper ones, the best fit are also the skullcandy, they are also the best looking ones, I got the blue/black ones. If you can pay a little more, get the Ultimate Ears-Metro.fi 200v Noise Isolating Earphones for iPhone. They go on sale at Amazon for $30 ($100 reg price) they can be used w/ the I-phone since they have a microphone and/or also use with MP3/4s.I use it w/ my iphone and it is a big improvement from the ones they came with. I also use them with my Zune 30gb and my Sansa clip and the 8gb. The sound is way superior compare to all the other ones. I liked them more than the BOSE in ear since the BOSE don't fit that well even thought they sound very good, they don't block as much outside noise as the UE. My friend and nephew also tried the UE and the others and werevery impress by the difference and even asked me to get them for them when they go on sale again. One big note, when you use any in ear-phones you need to make sure to use the right size tip and to insert them all the way in your ear canal, not doing so will make them sound flat, the bass is only appreciated when they are all the way in. Make sure that the volume is low when you first put them on.
