Customer Review: Very slightly twitchy, but sounds great.

I like the JBL on stage micro. It sounds remarkably good for such a tiny little hockey puck. The carrying case is actually usefull, which is unusual, the remote is surprisingly handy, and yes it does recharge your ipod. Below are the things that I found slightly twitchy about the unit.
1. When using the remote to fast forward in a video, select songs, whatever, the ipod would sometimes jump to a whole different menu I'm pretty sure I wasn't trying for. Now, this could quite easily be operator error, but it has happened enough times that it makes me wonder. It's easy to go back to where I wanted to be, but it seems a little odd.
2. The unit only charges your ipod when plugged into the wall, not while running off of it's own 4 AAA batteries. I don't remember the ads detailing that.
3. It has a surprising amount of bass, especially for such a small speaker set, but it takes a little getting used to because it sounds a bit distorted. I found that turning off the EQ on my Ipod helped a lot.
The good:
1. As I said, amazing volume and quality of sound. The bass might sound just a bit odd, but you won't notice it after you're used to it.
2. Nice to have it run off of it's own internal batteries when you aren't around plugs.
3. The remote, although it may confuse the ipod once in a while, is very handy. I watch and listen to videos while on the treadmill and have the unit perched nearby. Its GREAT being able to go through the menu's, pick songs and videos, fast forward and back up, etc. Surprising amount of control over your ipod.
4. The carrying case is compartmented to keep cords, charger and unit seperated. It's padded, has a good zipper and is actually thought out.
In all, I would definitely recommend this product. It's flaws are so slight that they are more eccentricities than flaws. It definitely frees you from earbuds while you are doing things but want to listen to something.

Don't buy this for more then 50 dollars. It seems like it is the same as the 100 dollar models just a different color and 'on sale' for half price, however this model has 3 speakers instead of 4 like other models. The sound is decent but the EQ settings have to be just right on the ipod or it doesn't work at louder volumes. The major drawback would be the power cord fits into all the other jacks in the back of the docking station (Audio in and out I believe?) In poor lighting this can be frustrating and possibly ruin the other jacks. This would not be a good item for dance parties but perfect for taking outside while you lay in the sun or in the kitchen while cooking. It can reach decent volumes but not enough to be heard well from another room without the sound going bad. The remote works up to about 10 feet. I like this item it's perfect for what I needed, you can take it in the car, it takes 4 AAA batteries. Its just loud enough to drown out noisy neighbors or what not and small enough to carry around anywhere, it also comes with a nice little carrying case.Customer Review: great little speaker!!!!!

I bought the JBL ON Stage Micro in red for my office. It has AMAZING sound for such a tiny unit! I have the Bose Sounddock for my iPod at home and I gotta say...this little speaker sounds like Bose's little sister! I got it on sale at my local Best Buy for $59 because, I guess, they were closing out the red one....the other colors were on sale too, but the red was the cheapest and I liked it best anyway. You will NOT be disappointed in this speaker. It comes w/ an adaptor for every iPod imaginable. I have a 30 G video and it fits nice and snug in the adapter when it is docked in the On Stage Micro. The sound is rich, clear and deep. It takes up very little space, as it's footprint is about the size of a small teacup saucer. Bonus: besides all the adapter inserts, this unit also has a cloth zippered carrying pouch that holds the speaker, cord, remote....w/ enough room for your iPod too! Oh, and the remote is great....finally, one I can control the iPod's menu with! Can scroll thru songs and everything.Customer Review: Nice little speaker

I wanted a small speaker for my bedroom and decided to get the JBL OnStage with iPod dock. It is excellent for my needs. The sound is surprisingly good for its size, the remote is basic but useful (but only useful if an iPod is in the dock), the controls on the unit are easy to use, and it works well with non-iPod players as well. I've used it with my laptop when watching DVDs for much better sound than my laptop speakers. I bought the red one because it was priced lower than the other colors but it is attractive and I find I enjoy the pop of color. The only negative I've found is the battery compartment door. It falls off very easily. I've been using the adapter but I imagine that could be a pain if you are using the JBL as a portable speaker.Customer Review: Fine sound for such a compact speaker system.

I have limited desktop space at work and have been looking for something compact for my iPod. This meets my needs just fine. It comes with lots of adaptor caps for different iPods. The sound is fine, though it doesn't have deep full bass, but I am satisfied. For the size, I wasn't expecting fantastic sound. It does work great for listening to audio books and other spoken word media. Very clear. I got two of them and would buy them again. I think they would make nice gifts for others with limited space. If you are looking for something for your only iPod speaker system, I would look for something larger, as iPods are capable of fantastic sound quality that won't be fully realized with this docking station.
