Customer Review: Iomega Rocks!

After using Simpletech and Western Digital drives of this type, there is absolutely no comparison in the quality of workmanship between the Iomega brand and the others. The case is solid metal and constructed with close fitting seams that make this a well designed and manufactured piece. I travel frequently and carry this device in my carry--on bag with my laptop and have not had any issues with seam separation or other visible defects. By accident my bag fell out of a chair onto the tile floor in the airport and I expected to see some damage to the unit and not a scratch or visible mark was evident, but my laptop did get some dings out of that fall. It takes rough handling much better than the Western Digital and Simpletech competing products. The only negative I have found with this drive is it will not run with only one USB port powering it and does require two. So when I have to hook up my USB aircard, mouse, phone charger, blue tooth device charger, I do have to pull out a USB hub to get it all hooked up because my laptop only has 4 external USB ports. This is quite acceptable to me considering I have lost data and trashed the hard drives of the inferior Western Digital and Simpletech devices with similar mishaps. If you want durability and an excellent drive for the money, look no further. Beware of plastic bodied external drives like the Western Digital and Simpletech devices...they do not stand up to normal use. Iomega Rocks!
