Customer Review: Delightful!
Summary: 5 Stars

Grace Digital Audio Wireless Internet Radio GDI-IR1000
I've been listening to this radio for about a year and I continue to be delighted with it - for many more reasons than not having to tolerate commercials. Most of the time I listen to it "barefoot" and it sounds good enough, with good base punch but with the treble just a bit too much for my taste. So when I want great sound, I hook it up to my home stereo and equalizer through the headphone jack in the rear.

The relatively long distance I have it from my DSL modem/router has not been a problem, so the radio's little antenna does the job. I don't even need to have the antenna vertical, so it stays hidden behind the case in its horizontal position. No disconnects and it even let me update its firmware with no problem.

If you take the time to learn how to use it, the 5 button preset is no limitation at all since you can get unlimited choices once you learn how to do it and to use Reciva. Once you find your preferred music mixes, they can be with you whenever you want.

I'm somewhat of a radio design nut and the sleek, simple, and understated design of this cool little gem really appeals to me. It's pure radio, no goofy boombox, jet engine, or clock radio styling. If you think it should also have a gimmick to wake you up in the morning, buy a clock radio. Internet radio is for listening to music. If you want good sounding, always available music personally tailored to your tastes - and without buying CDs, this is the way to do it at a reasonable price.

Customer Review: Delighted so far
Summary: 5 Stars

I moved from my hometown a few years ago, to another city about two hours away. I had been living with static-ridden baseball games and very limited radio station choices. When I saw this I decided to buy myself a toy. Within minutes it was up and running, and I was listening to the radio stations that I grew up with. The only disappointment so far is that the Internet version of the station that carries my team does not stream the play-by-play broadcast, so check on this if you are buying for that purpose. Also, the free version of Pandora doesn't seem to work, I will be subscribing. I never realized how much I missed listening to the radio!

Customer Review: 16,000 stations to pick from!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was lucky enough to land this radio from a JCPenney Outlet one day sale for $89. Although mine is the older base model ITC-IR1000B, replaced by the GDI-IR1000 in 2009, CNET feels sound quality is better on the older model with very few option changes.

This internet radio is amazing. Several years ago I lost interest in the music scene and was strickly a talk/sports radio listener of my 4 local stations. This is going to change all that.

I had this radio connected to my FIOS router, a local sports station searched, and playing in about 20 minutes. I was also able to easily upgrade the firmware in minutes over the connection. It's been flawless since. I've had no connection or cutting out issues found on some of these type radios. The display is clear, informative, and easy to navigate. I also signed up to to Pandora site with no problems. You simply create an account, add stations and/or streams, unplug and replug in your radio and you have your list stored on the radio. This helps the only 5 preset disappointment so many people mention. I also think it connects to the stations rather quickly considering it is pulling them in from the internet. You can even connect the radio to a stereo system with the provided cable to expand on the listening experience.

I will say that some (not all) stations with stream rates under 31k might sound tinny, crackling, or distorted. There are more than enough stations that stream way above 31k that this isn't a problem. When you do find a high streaming station of 64k or even better 128k or more, the sound is wonderful for a mono speaker. Overall, the unit feels solid and looks estically pleasing.

HIGHLY recommend this radio or other Grace radios if you are in the market.

Customer Review: Great radio
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this because we have Sirus and have been having trouble getting a good solid connection in our apartment. The wifi radio works great and we have no problem with reception now. It was just what we needed!

Customer Review: Great Radio for the Price
Summary: 4 Stars

This is my first internet radio. I was very impressed by it and the ease of setup. It also had far better sound quality than I expected. The only downside is that it is somewhat of a chore to navigate through the different stations. Otherwise, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to start listening to internet radio.
