Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Inspire portable speakersCustomer Review: Ok but...the power source dependency is a major flaw Summary: 3 Stars
These speakers need to be connected to a USB port (or electrical outlet via an adaptor I presume) or have AAA batteries installed in order to work. This considerably decreases its value, in my opinion, because there are somewhat similarly priced (and with similar performance) speakers that have an internal battery which can be charged via USB and later used without a connection to an external power source for as long as the charge is held, which turns out to be quite long for the nice little compact speakers I got from Staples. I paid $9.99 for the one from Staples and would happily pay that price again for some speakers that I don't always need to have plugged into a power source. I don't dare use batteries, because that seems like a waste of money unless I can put my hands on 4 AAA rechargeables (which, by the way, they might have indicated you would need in the description) lying around unused. Besides, the world needs to reduce its dependence on battery power, they are not the "greenest" things around.
Customer Review: works great, what a deal Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this device to listen to my Sansa while in my camper. The sound is good. One can crank it up to a pretty high volume and still get decent sound from it. No need to turn up the volume in the Sansa very much either because the speakers will cover this. It's not Bose but for the money it's pretty darn good . It runs off of 12 volts which is what I want. I looked at other brands on other sites and none of them were very clear about the 12 volt thing. In fact, the other sites weren't too clear about anything. The only compaint that I have is that it won't run on batteries. I put several batteries in this device thinking that some were bad but still it wouldn't work. But that's ok I don't plan on using it that way. To use this device on 12 volts you have to get the Apple I pod Travel Kit with car charger. Which uses a usb connector on one end and a male connector on the other which will plug into the speakers and power them. This kit has a 110 and 12 volt charging adapters.
Customer Review: Great for office! Summary: 5 Stars
I read many of the reviews of this product, then ordered it hoping my experience would be like the majority of consumers (4-5 stars). I wanted these speakers for my desk at work so I could listen to my iPod on low volume (since work blocks most music sites like Pandora and I like to listen while I type). I can keep the power flowing by plugging into a USB port on my computer. The volume and quality is great for the purpose. Not stereo quality of course, but really nice for $4 speakers! Not tinny at all, and no feedback or other annoying noises.
Note that the hook-up is through the headphone jack, so they should work with pretty much any mp3 player. The jack is on the bottom of the iPod Touch, so I can't put the iPod in the little stand (unless I put it upside-down), but the cord is long enough to lay the iPod on the desk next to the speakers.
Overall, no complaints here! I've been told that I need to order a set for my husband now.
Customer Review: Small and Surprisingly Powerful. Summary: 5 Stars
I tried a couple of "cheapo" (around $10) portable speakers from Walmart and Target and returned both because the sound was virtually non-existent. I have a Thinkpad laptop that doesn't have very loud on-board speakers even when fully cranked up and I needed something small, portable, and lightweight. Wow, these little speakers do a great job; The sound is awesome for their size & between the volume control adjustments on the laptop and the speakers, the sound is just right...no tinniness at all.
These speakers are perfect for online talk radio and good background music. People expecting to pump up the music with stereo quality sound from their mp3/ipod players are going to be disappointed; These speakers won't win any prizes for looks either plus the audio cord is on the short side around 6", but for the money and sound quality I'm giving this 5 stars.
Thanks to other reviewers for convincing me on this decent buy.
Customer Review: Not perfect for me, but maybe for you Summary: 4 Stars
I read a lot of the reviews for all the different speakers and this one looked pretty good. I turned the volume all the way up on my iPod and I could barely hear the music. It works perfectly if you are within 10 feet of the speakers at all times.
I work overnights stocking shelves so I'm constantly moving around so these are the best for me although I think I will love them in my dorm room in another month.
The sound quality is pretty good theres no static or cracking you might get with an FM transmitter plus you save a couple bucks. Luckily I saved some extra money because the seller included the AC adapter.
For the money this is a good item. Sure you can spend $20 or $30 on bigger speakers that put out the sound to a greater area but these fold up nicely and come with a case to carry them in.
I think I'm going to keep them and use them often. My iPod has a lot more music on it than my computer.
