My Macbook Pro recognizes this dock and I also plug it into a powerstrip (via a USB adapter) for recharging. But I noticed that it doesn't work with all my Apple USB adapters, only the small one. It might be b/c the small one newer and the fit is more secure than the other one, though. I'm glad I found this instead of having to buy another Apple doc ($29!) as theirs breaks every few months.
