Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of IOGear Enhanced Data Rate Bluetooth USB Adapter with Range up to 66 ft. GBU221Customer Review: Works great on Vista 64 Summary: 5 Stars
I did quite a bit of searching for a USB Blue tooth device that would work on Vista 64 bit and stumbled across this one. It had mixed reviews but I figured I'd give it a shot. So far this has worked exceptionally well. The device came with a CD that included all the necessary installation items complete with the device driver. My wife (who doesn't know much about computers) was the one to actually get the device up and working. It took about 15 minutes of setup but after that it was working. I definitely recommend this item. I will offer this tip, I took about 2 minutes after installation for it to finally pick other blue tooth devices so if it doesn't work right away give it a few minutes.
Customer Review: Difficult to set up Summary: 2 Stars
This = IOGEAR Enhanced Data Rate Class 2 Bluetooth USB Adapter Ranges up to 66 Feet
Have two LTs (Thinkpad/Dell) both of which claim to support bluetooth.
Also have bluetooth logitech mouse which should work with them. (And a bluetooth headset)
Could never get them to pair (either LT). Googling pointed many frustrated users.
Bought myself two IOGEAR USB adapters - one mini (longer range), one micro.
This one - worked only with Dell LT. Did not work with thinkpad. Although all drivers are installed.
The IOGear Bluetooth USB Micro Adapter (GBU421) worked fine with both LTs (and both mouse/headset), and being compact, no need to remove from LT.
Customer Review: Not much help Summary: 1 Stars
I am updating my first assessment of your product. I would give it two stars rather than one because I can get it to do something but it is not doing what I want.
I installed the software and rebooted the computer then plugged in the Bluetooth. I wanted to download pictures from my cell phone to my laptop. The laptop can see the cellphone but I cannot drag and drop any pictures. It has a serial port connection but I cannot access the phone with it. The cellphone shows the laptop and can connect to it but I cannot transfer any pictures. I have to go through quite a bit to get it to connect. If anybody has any hints as to how to make this work I would appreciate it.
Customer Review: Good value, works great with Vista Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this adapter after purchasing a new bluetooth smartphone. Looking at all the different adapters, I saw a lot of them had poor reviews, either due to range issues or support for Vista, or general driver support. This one had mostly positive reviews, so I gave it a try. It works fantastically. Within a minute or two, I had my phone synching with my PC through bluetooth. This is with Vista Ultimate 32-bit. No problems at all. No slowdown issues on the PC, and I'm not sure how far the range really is, but I was able to synch with my pc from two rooms away with no problems at all. I have not had any issues staying connected. Well worth the price.
Customer Review: Windows 7!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Read several reviews & ordered it to install on new HP Pavilion w/windows 7 to pair w/bluetooth headphones! Quick & easy to install, didn't even need to enter codes as I'd read about. (not really a code, just misc numbers from what I read). I installed the mini-disk, plugged in the adapter when prompted & like magic, it connected. Once installation completed, go to control panel & add device with fully charged headphones in paring mode. I'm listening to it right now. Distance says 300'. Not that I got tape measure out but I went downstairs w/no problems in our 1800 sq ft house. (computer centrally located in house) I'd say go for it!
