Customer Review: It could be better
Summary: 2 Stars

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this device but I did not like the installation. After installing this device a different USB device no longer functioned properly and so I had to uninstall this device to get it to work again...Also, Bluetooth is a relatively new networking technology and documentation is sparse about what protocols support what functions or even if a particular device will support the protocol to get the function a person wants. I wanted the FTP protocol so I transfer files from my cell phone to my computer without hooking up the stupid USB cable to the computer all the time. The phone supports sync and so does the IOGEAR device but I found out the speed of my phones bluetooth was slower than IOGEAR so to do a sync took a couple of hours for a few pictures. Suffice it to say this device has limited use for me. Fortunately, it didn't cost much but I'll be happy when the day arrives when I don't have to hook-up the USB to or remove the microSD from my cell phone to transfer photos or music.

Customer Review: Worked with ease
Summary: 5 Stars

Product works great. Plug & play. Did not need to use the installation CD included with the product. I am using it for Skype with Vista Home Premium 64 bit operating system and Plantronics 640 headset.

Plugged the IOGEAR adapter into my PC. The PC immediately recognized the adapter and started installing the driver. I then clicked on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray and added my Plantronics 640 device. Couldn't have been any easier.

Only problem I haven't figured out yet is why I can't go back and forth on the Plantronics 640 between my cell phone and PC/Skype. Can't seem to dual pair the headset with the PC and the cell phone. But that might be a limitation on the Plantronics headset, not sure. The Plantronics 640 works great paired alone with the IOGEAR adapter. Now I can ditch the corded, bulky headset I was using for Skype.

Would definitely recommend the product.

Customer Review: Works well - needs more detailed instructions
Summary: 4 Stars

The product comes WITHOUT instructions and, sorry to say, the menu screens and drop down menus anre NOT intuitive. I bought two of these devices, one for myself to use to link to my cellphone and the other for my wife for linking to her printer.

It took only a few minutes to pair my cellphone with the bluetooth, but it took another half hour to set it up to find everything in the the phone.

A similar pattern was encountered with the printer. No more than 5 minutes to pair the unit with the printer. There were no instructions on how to set up the system to print. It then took me another hour of trial and error to finally find the menu item to create the printer link to be able to print. I really could have used an instruction manual.

In any case, once the setup was made everything works as advertised. Have not yet tested the unit for distance - should be interesting.

Customer Review: Works well for desktops, a little big for laptop use.
Summary: 4 Stars

If you're looking for a cheep yet effective bluetooth adapter this is probably the product for you. There are smaller adapters out there that will be better for use on a laptop because they wont get snagged but for a desktop there is no reason to spend the extra cost. I was able to use this adapter in a medium sized apartment without loosing connectivity anywhere. Although I never tested the limits I will say that I had no problems with the signal travailing 20 feet through 2 interior walls which should be better than needed for 99% of all applications. You will not find much better than this (and probably worse) with the smaller adapters. This adapter is not too tall for standard usb port spacing but may be too wide for standard usb port spacing if you have a flash drive along side it which is another reason this adapter is best suited for desktops.

Customer Review: Vista 64 bit works like a dream
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't have much to add to what others have said. I'm running Vista (64 bit version). I plugged the dongle into a USB port and my computer immediately recognized it and started installing the driver. When it was finished, I double-clicked on the bluetooth icon in the lower right hand corner of my screen, clicked on "add wireless device" in the window that popped up, made my Motorola phone discoverable, and followed the on- screen instructions on the phone and the computer.

It's hard to imagine that the process could have been any easier.

My thanks to all those who created reviews and gave me the confidence to select this device. It wasn't the cheapest device out there, but neither was it the most expensive and I am 100% satisfied with the performance.
