Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of IOGEAR Universal Memory Drive Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Memory Card Reader/WriterCustomer Review: Sweet Summary: 5 Stars
I love this. Purchased it to go along w/ my Casio Z850 which does not come w/ direct USB cable (only connects via a cradle).
I haven't had it long so can't say whether the end caps will stay on.
Can say it is plug and play with my Mac running latest OS.
And a special thanks to Amazon, I **never** would have known this product even existed if they had not "marketed" me by showing me this product when I was looking at extra MMC cards for my camera. I know in-your-face marketing is annoying, but I never would have found this if it hadn't been for Amazon.
Customer Review: AWESOME little gadget Summary: 4 Stars
This little R/W flash drive is wonderful! The price is incredible too! I have a cell phone that uses a tiny trans-flash disk. By using this Memory Card Reader and Writer I can move files quickly and easily (I use an SD card adapter that came with the trans-flash card--also purchased on Amazon). I would have given the drive a 5, but the drive has 2 end caps that can get lost. I would have liked to have seen this device on a lanyard---I'm a teacher and these drives have a tendancy to disappear if they're not around my neck....Still...an excellent buy.
Customer Review: This Thing is Really Useful Summary: 4 Stars
I use this thing almost every day. In fact I have it in my pocket right now. I take a lot of pictures of my kids and with this little gadget I can look at them and send them to the grandparents wherever (work or home or just carry it over their computer) I want without having to lug around my mult-card reader (and usb cable). It works just like any other thumb drive. The only reason that I gave it four stars is that it one of the caps doesn't seem to fit very tightly, but it hasn't fallen off yet and I've had it for almost a month.
Customer Review: A really convenient double-use device Summary: 4 Stars
The IOGear USB2 SD card reader provides an extremely fast and simple means for transferring digital photos from camera to computer. Just pop you SD card from your camera into the back of the card, and you have an instant plug-in device that works like a hard drive for transferring the photos to your computer. When you're not using the camera, leave the SD card in the IOGear reader and use it for a pocket USB drive. The only weakness I found is that the rear cap is not a tight fit, and I worry that it may come off accidentally.
Customer Review: What a disappointment! Summary: 1 Stars
This product sounded like a great idea, but unfortunately, it causes sporadic errors when trying to read or write to it. At first I thought I had a bum SD flash chip, but that wasn't the case: my computer (Dell Inspiron E1505) has an SD slot, and the chip (Transcend 150x 2GB SD) works perfectly in it. I live in a place that makes it difficult and expensive to return things for warranty replacement--the shipping would have cost me more than the drive itself, so I was just stuck with an unreliable (and therefore useless) product.
