Previously using an analog component cable to connect my $20 DVD player to my 1080p HDTV. It makes for bad quality since the signal gets from digital to analog, and then back to digital at the other end. Using any decent HDMI cable bypasses the analog conversions and allows the DVD player to use their upscale algorithms. Now did that improve the picture quality! If you have a DVD player with a HDMI output, and a HDTV, be sure to connect them with a HDMI cable to get cheap improvement to picture quality! Cheaper than to buy better equipment...
