Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of IOGEAR 5-Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 PCI Card GIC251UCustomer Review: Upgrading from USB 1.0? Summary: 5 Stars
The product came quickly and well packaged (clam-shelled & boxed up). Installation was simple, and this card provided just enough ports to plug in some of my equipment, although I still needed to purchase a separate hub for more ports. I haven't had any issues with this card since its installation. If you can't or don't need to upgrade to firewire, then upgrading to USB 2.0 is the next best option, especially if you use an external hard drive to store your music, movies or other important information.
Customer Review: Great card - easy to install and has run flawlessly Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this card to replace a USB 1.1 card in my PC and have not been disappointed. It was (brainlessly) easy to install and has run flawlessly for me under both Windows XP (although see some of the other reviews about Service Pack 1) and Linux (Fedora Core 2 through 4 - kudzu found the card and did all the necessary setup work). I can't really add much to the other reviews other than if you are looking for more external USB 2.0 ports, I would highly recommend this card for either Windows or Linux.
Customer Review: IOGear USB 2.0 card Summary: 5 Stars
Being on the trailing edge of technology it was past time to upgrade to 2.0 USB ports and IOGear has always served me well. This card was no exception, it seated well, was recognized immediately, and has been problem-free since installation. The one disadvantage is that the ports (only 4 external) are too close together and some flash drives are fatter than they should be. As usual though, the hardest part of installing internal devices is getting the case open. Manufacturers, are you listening?
Customer Review: It simply works Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this card for my Dell Dimension E521, which has a known problem with all in-built USB ports for all Linux distributives. Since my work requires use of Linux, and both mouse and keyboard use USB ports, I had to find a way to make them work. This card seems to do the job just fine. The installation was easy and the card was immediately recognized by Linux. As usual, manufacturer's drivers are supplied for Windows XP and it works there without problem as well.
Customer Review: Made my computer lock-up Summary: 2 Stars
It seemed a nice way to add USB ports, with good power, and without another thing dangling around the computer. It installed easily and worked for a few minutes, until my computer locked up. Tried drivers, etc. and still had same problem. I've got a "home built" computer that maybe has something that just wouldn't work properly with it. AMAZON was GREAT about returning it, so it's worth trying and if it works on your computer it's probably a great unit.
