Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of IOGEAR 5-Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 PCI Card GIC251UCustomer Review: Did not work with Dell Inspiron 546 Summary: 1 Stars
This product did not work with Dell Inspiron 546 (Windows XP SP3)! I tried it in both PCI slots. Each time it installed fine. It worked with one USB device plugged in. Each time I plugged in a second USB device the computer froze. It would not reboot until I took the PCI USB card out. I contacted IOGEAR. They advised me to return the USB PCI Card. I took this to mean that it was either defective or they did not really know why it was incompatible with the Dell Inspiron 546. I installed a Belkin 5-port USB 2.0 PCI Card today (part number F5U220v1). It works perfectly.
Customer Review: Solves iPod XP Delayed Write Error Summary: 4 Stars
When my wife's HP Pavilion (a1020n) reported "Delayed Write Errors" in downloading songs to her iPod Nano, the IOGear 5 Port USB 2.0 card solved the problem.
Apparently, the HP Pavilion has a Via chipset that causes situational errors on USB. After about 10 hours of research, I still couldn't exactly figure it out.
But the IOGear USB card works as specified. No need to download any software with Windows XP computers. The 5th usb port is on the 'inside' of the card and isn't accessible from the back of the computer once installed.
Customer Review: High Speed at a very sLOW cost Summary: 5 Stars
The IOGear hi-speed USB 2.0 PCI card is a natural upgrade from USB 1.0. Upgrade equals faster, much faster, but then you knew that. This single slot card only needed to improve overall performance to be good, but it turns out to be the right economical choice for a top quality, flawless working form of upgrade. I can't recommend various flavors on the back of postage stamps, and it's equally hard to compare one USB board to another, but this is an amazing price point for the perfect quality and function that comes with this board. It's highly recommended.
Customer Review: Faster than Firewire and installation is a snap Summary: 5 Stars
Remember the "old days" when installing a new piece of computer hardware meant 2 days of your life was lost trying to get it to work? What a pleasant surprise to plug this board in, turn the PC on, and have Windows XP automatically find the drivers and set everything up.
OK, OK, the ease of installation probably has more to do with Windows XP than with this particular USB card, but the upshot is nobody need fear buying this card and getting it to work.
I bought this board to use with my new digital scanner. Works great.
Customer Review: IOGear 5-Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 PCI Card GIC251U Summary: 5 Stars
On the package, it says: "Wasy to Install-Made for ultra-easy Plug-&-Play installaion!"
That statement couldn't be any more true. First off, It worked in my Dell Poweredge 1600sc(Windows XP), so that, in and of itself was amazing. I have yet to test out the "Hi-Speed" claims just yet, but when i plugged in my external hard drive, it loaded it pretty fast, so one can only speculate. This card is worth every single penny and it shipped very fast.
I went from two usb ports to seven thanks to this awesome card.
