As an amateur photographer, I was told that every lens needs a lens to protect it, sort of like googles for eyes.
So I went out to find the cheapest lens I could find by a reputable company.
I was a little disappointed that this lens was made in the Philippines and not Japan like all the other Hoya filters I've purchased. I also didn't see a big difference between pictures with the filter on and without. I was pretty disappointed with that.
But then again, I bought this purely to protect my lens, and it's doing just that.

Great filter, high quality construction & materials and the front lens cover fits well on the filter itself. It's a lot cheaper to buy and use a filter then replace your front element if you scratch it or crack it. If you are going to spend a few hundred dollars on your lens, spend a few more on a filter.Customer Review: Very nice

I am very pleased with this as I bought two of them which were Canon and one cracked, and I haven't even had a chance to use it and the other is very loose. I will order more of thise from Amazon as they are much cheaper and better than the Canon ones.Customer Review: uv filter

I had a uv filter years ago for my Canon AE1 Program made by Hoya and it gave me superb service. Over the years I have upgraded to a Canon Rebel digital and I still rely on Hoya for the same superb quality. What would I do without Hoya?Customer Review: Good product, does what it's supposed to.

I use the UV filters primarily as a clear lens protector for my DSLR lenses. Keeping that in mind, this lens arrived in good condition, screwed onto my camera lens just fine, and seems to be doing its job.
