Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Hoodman H-LPP3 HoodLoupe 3.0 Professional 3-Inch Screen LoupeCustomer Review: very good but... Summary: 4 Stars
very good, considering the price (I guess the quality is as good as Zacuto viewfinder's, but it's a little bit tricky, since, once you buy it, you find out it can't be used unless you buy another adapter to mount over the camera and keep the viewfinder still and stuck to the camera display.
Bottom line: you have to spend more than 100$ in addition to the viewfinder, to make it work.
Still it's cheaper than the Zacuto's, but take that into account if you up for it.
Customer Review: HOODMAN H-LPP3 HOODLOUPE 3.0 Summary: 4 Stars
Thursday 25 June 2009
The Hoodman is an excellent idea and the unit is simple but effective. It arrived on time and in good condition. Works well on my camera to enable me to see my LCD even in bright sunlight. One minor glitch: the neck strap pulled out of the metal piece holding it in place so I have to have that fixed or get a new one. Hoodman might consider re=designing the strap to make it more sturdy.

Customer Review: Hoodloupe 3 Summary: 4 Stars
I was skeptical at how useful this product would be. I was pleasantly surprised, when outdoors I now can see what I was missing. The built in magnifier really helps to review my composition without my glasses. The only downside is that it is physically larger than my screen on my D200 and sometimes you can hit one of the buttons along the left edge of the monitor while reviewing the image. Careful placement on the back of the camera can eliminate this problem.
Customer Review: Great on sunny days Summary: 4 Stars
It's a lifesaver on sunny days, especially on the ski hill and really bright locations. It's a little bulky, all plastic, but feels surprisingly sturdy. It does the job well, and the eyepiece has a wide range of adjustments for those of us with less than perfect eyesight. The part that presses against the camera is hard rubber (or synthetic) so will not scratch the camera. Used it with my 40D and now my 7D.
Customer Review: To My Mind, Better Even Than Advertised Summary: 5 Stars
For me this device has proved just about essential, especially for Live View manual focusing for macrophotography against strong backlight.
A right-angle version, for low shots with a tripod, would be welcome, as would be a ring scale and index mark for quick focusing of the loupe.
Sincerely, the day I lose my HoodLoupe will be the day that I order a new one. Highly recommended.
