Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Holga 146120 120 Color Flash CameraCustomer Review: Fantastic Plastic Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, so basically for a year I was looking at toy cameras. At first I wanted a lomographic pink Diana clone. I talked to a friend of mind, who is a big photographer, and I asked him about lomography and holga. He had a holga 120N (without flash). I tried his Holga with a few rolls of film. The pictures were interesting. I was hooked. So I begged my dad to buy me a 120CFN. My dad is not set on toy cameras and film photogaphy. I bought a 120CFN in gold on eBay (came with extras like filters, filter holder, frame/masks). It was well worth it. The color rolls I have done are amazing with flash, especially color flash. Color flash is just plain fun. The pictures are hard to match with a digital camera and photshop. Do buy a Holga and try it out. The first two rolls may not be pretty, but it's fun to take photos with this camera.
Customer Review: LOVE IT Summary: 5 Stars
This camera is definitely a one-of-a-kind! I have loved every shot taken with the Holga, although sometimes I forget to secure the backing on with tape so my pictures become ruined (I easily drop things). However, this camera is extremely durable considering the amount of times I have accidentally sent it crashing to the ground! The film is expired, which makes it a little on the expensive side to order/ship/print and only one camera shop within a 20 mile radius of me develops such film. Getting a roll of 12 shots developed usually costs me about $9, sometimes even $13. I recently made my own 35mm converter for the Holga (a lot more convenient and inexpensive than 120mm) and the shots are AMAZING. The character this camera has (pictures and camera itself) is remarkable and definitely worth every penny!
Customer Review: Good tool for artists Summary: 4 Stars
The whole point of Lomography is the "point and shoot, don't think" spontaneous philosophy. Of course not every photo is going to look like a Kodak commercial; they're not supposed to. This camera will take photos that imitate that faded quality of Polaroids, and once you get your film cross-processed, the result will be surprising and beautiful. Since the camera is manually advanced, take advantage of double-exposing your film. The only concern that I have for my camera is light leaking in, so I buy black electric tape to tape up the seams. It gets a bit tedious, but it makes it possible so that I'm not wasting my shots. Try the color flashes too... very interesting feature of this camera.
Customer Review: Great camera Summary: 5 Stars
It looks like a joke, people might not belive you are taking a real picture (specially if someone is ussing a big fancy digital SLR at your side) but that will give you amazing shoots. You will never know what are you getting on the film until you englare it the amount of control is really limitted but that is what will give you the great images you might get. It is really easie to use and you can even use 35mm film with just some extras you will certainly find at home. It will give you lots of fun and good pics.
The only problem now is getting a good lab that will process the films (the digital boom might have made some labs to stop processing films)
This is a great bought.
Customer Review: Amazing simplicity! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a lot of cameras ranging from digital to 120 film. I've shot hundreds of rolls of film, taken thousands of digital pictures, but never have I been so pleased as I am with the shots from this camera. Without even trying the colors on these shots pop, the vignetting is beautiful and the exposures and light leaks are wonderful.
I have dropped this camera several times and it just keeps on going (I think mainly due to the amount of tape fastened around it).
I recommend this camera to anyone that wants to enjoy taking pictures. But beware, due to it's odd appearance, it is a conversation starter.
