This is a handy gadget to have, with a retractable cord. It will fit an electric outlet, the USB port on a computer, or a car charger outlet. I bought it hoping that I could control my iPod Touch (3rd gen.) with the music, etc., but iPod has you around a barrel. I want to control it, but if I plug it in, it shows on My Computer as a digital camera! I really resent having to kowtow to their policies, but I do love my iPod Touch. I don't know what the answer it, but if anyone knows how to get around this, let me know! The gadget itself works fine, and I carry it in my laptop case so I am prepared. At home, I have an electrical outlet plug to charge while I am at home. I ordered this to replace my old car adapter when it bit the dust on a recent trip. The first unit I ordered didn't work. So I contacted the seller and they promptly sent out a replacement, which didn't work either. I tried both units in wall sockets and in the car in the cigarette lighter socket. Neither unit worked even though the iPod charged just fine in it's cradle at home. I'm contacting the company about a refund, and expect them to respond quickly. They were very good about sending out a replacement product as soon as I complained about the first one. The customer service was great, I wish the product were as good! The reason I only gave it four stars was that I paid for express shipping, and it took over a week to get the original adapter. The replacement took about four days, even though it was being shipped in the same state. I took off a star for slow shipping.Customer Review: Works great for the price!

I've had these for a couple of months. I bought 3 sets thinking "For this price I'll probably break a couple". They are still going strong with my iPhone 3GS. I use 1 set at work, and 2 at home. Sometimes with the wall adapter, sometimes straight into my computer. I enjoy how they retract so that it gets out of the way. It sure beats having a tangled ball of wire to deal with every time you want to charge your iPhone.
I tried the car charger while trying to run Pandora on my iPhone 3GS (jail broken with blackra1n). Pandora would just keep rebooting while this was plugged in. I've never had a problem with it though while plugged into the wall or computer. Maybe it's my car. Either way I feel I got my moneys worth out of these.

I can't believe that I am complaining about an item that only costs $.01. I bought the item to have the necessary items to charge my ipod touch from my nightstand instead of my computer. The retractable cord that came with the order didn't fit with the case I have, but that wasn't the worst of it. The outlet would not stay properly plugged in to charge the ipod touch. I even tried putting a rubber band around the plug and my power strip and that wouldn't hold it on because of the design. So basically, the item isn't worth the $2.97 is paid to ship it to me. If you are just looking for a retractable cord, and you have a small thin case, it might be okay for you, but skip it if you are going for the outlet usb charger.Customer Review: Excellent wall charger, poor car charger

The cable is somewhat flimsy, but it does the job well. I'm pleased with the wall charger, as I can just plug in the cable to it and let it charge. The car charger, however...that is a different story. I plug in my iPod and set it down. However, there does not seem to be enough of a charge output to keep it charged, as given enough time and it will die. Having taken my iPod on an 8 hour trip, I had music for about the first 2 hours, and for the last 6 my iPod was charging slightly, only to die and start charging enough to bring up the graphical charging screen, then die again. I've since switched to a Belkin FM Transmitter/Charger, which works beautifully for the car.
