I ended up returning this item to Amazon.com. It just doesn't work as advertised. Compared to my laptop's wifi, it certainly was able to find 2-3 more networks to link up to. However, the networks I actually wanted to connect with were either no better or even weaker compared to my laptop's wifi system. In addition, the software included is difficult to use. It keeps connecting to the wrong network even after I constantly deleted and tried to make it connect it to the network I wanted.
Maybe for some people this item works well. But given that the signal strength is just as good on my laptop's wifi and is easier to use... I ended up returning the product.

I was a little skepticle about buying this product at first since most products like this are complete wastes of money, but this one works great! It's EXTREMELY easy to install and within minutes I had 5 new connections that I never was able to access before.
Pros: Works as advertised, relatively small, easy to install, works GREAT on XP AND Vista
Cons: somewhat fragile design
Also note that many networks these days are security enabled, so if you're buying this to try to steal you're neighbor's internet-- you MAY not be able to do so without a password. However, this is still a great product.

Do not waste your money on this. This does not work at all. I have called support twice and got no help at all. Even though this says on the box that it extends the range up to 600%, my range was not extended at all and the support told me it is not to extend the range but is only a wireless adapter to connect to the internet. Also, I ran the diagnostic test in the program and got one number with a "warn" and another number stating "failed to create a command file." They are unable to explain what either means and told me just not to worry about it and don't look at that any more. Again, do not waste your money on this product.Customer Review: Unhappy customer

I've had this product for 3 weeks, it won't load the driver. I've called India for customer service, can't understand them, so they got upset and told us to go online and load the driver from the Hawkings website. Did it still no luck. Can't get any reply from e-mails. So I guess it just sits there and looks pretty on my table. No help what soever. I would never rate this item a 1 but they had no lower scores. This is the first of numerous items I have ordered on the web that I have been really frustrated with. I will send this item back. If anyone else wants to order this Hawkins Wi-Fi extender, my advice to them is "Don't do it"Customer Review: Worked well and solved my problem.

I like the product very much and it has allowed me to receive a signal from across the street at a very good level. I was not able to connect to this WiFi signal before.
The only reason I didn't rate it a 5 is because the dish has only one direction of adjustment and cannot be tightened to stay where you want it. I would like to see a multi-way swivel that could be secured when you are pointing to the signal you want. That way, you could mount the base where you want it and, then, direct and secure the dish when you get the best signal.
Otherwise, it is a very good design and works well.
