Customer Review: They're satisfactory for the price.
Summary: 3 Stars

Coming from a 10 year old Aiwa set that was simply too large for my desk with an 8" woofer in each speaker, this JBL set was a nice change and a very nice gain in space.

However, they basically sound like quality laptop speakers with a subwoofer.

Like most speakers that have such small drivers, these really lack a good midrange. Well I should say you can get a decent midrange sound out of them, at the sacrifice of any clear highs. The bass is more than what you'd expect out of a 4" subwoofer, but due to its smaller size and lower wattage when you rise above half volume the bass notes start to blend together and become muddy, instead of crisper and clearer at low volumes.

Although there is good bass and clear highs, these speakers just simply don't deliver in the mids. They sound empty and hollow.

In my opinion, at this price point and comparing the wattage of these speakers compared to the competitors in this range, they would have been perfect if JBL would have made the driver an inch larger, and added a dedicated tweeter to really be able to produce a full range of sound like speakers should.

Customer Review: Did not disappoint!

I was entrusted by a friend to get the best speakers available for his computer without breaking the bank. After reading through all the Amazon reviews I felt pretty good but since this wasn't my money I did further research on the net. Unable to find any reason why not to, we went ahead and pulled the trigger.

Upon arrival the sound was as expected and more. Extremely clear and alive sound, even at higher volumes. Be warned - suddenly you can detect a distinct difference between MP3 and true digital. Be prepared to shock your guests with the high fidelity.

Finally, they just look extremely cool. They are tiny, attractive, and stylish.

If you meet the following criteria you should get these speakers. Look no further.

1. Desire for excellent sound quality

2. No need for earth shattering bass

3. No need for surround sound

4. On a budget

Buy for the sound, love them for their looks.

Customer Review: these things are SWEET!
Summary: 5 Stars

I first saw these speakers at [a local store], but the price ($129) was a bit much for my tastes. After looking at the price on Amazon, i figured it was a better value than almost anything else. Well, after 30 minutes out of the box, I'm extremely impressed. The "keyed" plugs for the satilites actually weren't, and the plugs are formed into different shapes, making it almost impossible to set them up wrong. The touch-sensitve volume controls work extremely well, however, it requres a bit of dexterity to press both at one time in order to mute. Other than that, these are practically a steal for their price, and the sound quality is more than 1000 times better than the speakers on my iBook.

Customer Review: Great Looks AND Sound!
Summary: 5 Stars

I think these are the best looking speakers out there. The coolest part may be the blue lights underneath the left and right speakers. They really do look like spaceships. The sound is fantastic, especially considering the small size of the whole system. The subwoofer is not as large and bulky as other systems in this price range and it's probably the only subwoofer you wouldn't want to hide anyway - cause it looks cool! Would have been even better if it too had blue lights. The only downside I can think of is that there's only one input jack. So you can't hook up multiple sources directly to the system. I've tried mini-phone Y adaptors but the sound becomes distorted.

Customer Review: Joining the chorus
Summary: 5 Stars

I've recently got into to the iTunes thing, and it became pretty apparent to me that my computer speakers aren't going to cut it. I spent some time looking around for a set of reasonably priced set, and when I saw the price here on Amazon[.com] (I saw this set go for 120s in most places) I decided to buy it. Anyway, WOW. Really fantastic sound. It's hard to believe such great sound comes from this small compact set. Plan on having the whole thing on your desk though, in order to get easy access to the controls on the subwoofer and speakers. It's not a big deal, I have a REALLY cluttered desk, and I found that they really don't take up much space.
