Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of JBL On Stage Micro Portable Speaker Dock for iPod (Black)Customer Review: Nice unit, sounds good, small and stylish Summary: 4 Stars
We own the JBL One Stage Micro Portable Speaker Dock and it sounds good for its size. However you need to realize that it's a very small unit and it can only do so much with speakers that are only about one inch in diameter. It looks very nice and it comes with a nice carry case for storage and travel. The unit works really well with the Ipod Touch and also with the Ipod Nano 3rd Generation. It will charge either unit with no problems. Its remote is nice and is fully functional unlike some others. I would recommend this Docking station to anyone who is looking for a stylish and compact unit that has very good sound quality.

Customer Review: Works well, but it's fragile Summary: 3 Stars
We bought our JBL on stage micro to play an iPod Touch at home, in the car, and on vacation. It worked well. We liked the versatility and the mobility of the product. Also found that the sound quality is improved by placing it on a hard surface rather than a pad, carpet, sand dune, or towel. Dashboards, desks, tabletops, rocks, etc. seem to make a better platform for the dock.
Okay, here are the few problems.
1. it's broken. The entire weight of the iPod is supported by the electronic connection to the iPod. It slipped off it's perch and the electronic connection was twisted and broken. I suppose I could plug it in with a cord in the rear jack. This, and all such units, should include some mechanical support to the iPod to protect both the iPod and the dock. We were panicked that the fall broke the iPod rather than the dock.
2. No volume control from iPod. All volume control is on the unit. Not a huge problem but it would be nice to have the ability to control volume from the iPod.
Customer Review: Great sound in a small device Summary: 5 Stars
Great little device, good sound for the size. We use it for the iPod Classic, iPod Touch 1G and the iPhone 3G. It works with all, however when docking the iPhone I get the message that the device is not compatible and I have to set the phone in fly mode (turn off the phone function) to avoid distorted speaker sound. The vendor does not claim iPhone compatibility so I am not going reduce the number of stars because of this, but it would be nice to be able to dock the iPhone AND receive phone calls.
I like the fact that you can choose between batteries and the AC adaptor. The battery life is good and we take the JBL with us on trips from time to time.
My 6-year old is also a user and she managed to break the docking connector (the square metal connector that connects to the iPod). We can still use it, but has to have something to keep the iPod pushed forward in order for the connection to work (or we can use the audio cable). I assume this is a risk with all iPod docks, not just this one.
Customer Review: Sounds great, small footprint, but no iPod 3g support. Summary: 4 Stars
I recently purchased this dock to replace an aging Altec Lansing dock. The Altec Lansing dock was great with my older iPod 3g, but would not charge mine or my coworkers iPod touch. I bought this because it said it not only supported the iPod touches, but that it supports any docking ipod 3g-6g. Sound is fantastic, and I love the small size since it sits on my desk. Sure, there are many better docks out there with wonderful sound, but most of those would take up 1/2 of my desk space. Problem is, unlike what is advertised, it does not work with my iPod 3g. It will play music, but only one song. To go to the next song, you have to undock the iPod and redock it. Same thing if you want to skip forward a song. Remote will only work to change volume. I figured this may not charge my 3g, but to not have the ability to skip songs or even listen to the next song without undocking the iPod is not acceptable. If anything, it's gonna force me to replace my old dinosaur of a ipod sooner than I had anticipated.
Customer Review: JBL: continuing a 60 year legacy of great sound Summary: 5 Stars
Fact: JBL is one of very few speaker companies that has been in existence for over 60 years;
Fact: In the mid 70s, more JBL 4310/4311/4312 studio monitor were in recording studios than all other speakers combined; this success created the consumer version, the Century L100 speaker.
Fact: JBL speakers were used in the development of the THX Home Theater system.
The sound quality coming from such a small unit/small speaker is phemoninal.
JBL has done their homework with the computer optimized equalization for an exteneded frequency response and optimized compression technology for clean, distortion free, accurate sound at higher listening levels.
We are using this with 2nd and 3rd generation Nanos. No hum, no interferance, charges the ipod when docked; aux input for CD player, etc. Can us the ipod controls or the included remote control. Give this a listen in a retail store, then order from Amazon; you will not be disappointed.
