Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Griffin iTalk Pro - Microphone

Customer Review: useful device
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased the i-talk to use in my classroom so that my students could record their own podcasts for some of the units we're currently studying. It's simple and easy to use.

Customer Review: Only *automatic* recording volume on an iPod classic of the last generation ???
Summary: 3 Stars

Griffin's iTalk Pro microphone *seems* to work nicely and to be a good bang for the buck...

But I haven't found a way to *manually* adjust the recording volume on my iPod (120 GB, last generation, meaning purchased at the end of 2008).
This is disastrous, as the intended use for the iTalk was recording rehearsals with my band: the automated recording (likely intended for human voice) compensates like crazy at every volume peak (bass drum, solo trumpet etc.), pushing the recording level down instantly, only to send it up just as quick as soon as the peak has ceased.
This results in heavy "pumping" effect when recording, making the result painfully unnerving to listen to.

Unfortunately, ROCKBOX, the fabulous alternative firmware-maker (available for brands like ARCHOS, CREATIVE and former iPod models), hasn't issued one for the iPod I own (see reference above).

If someone reads this and knows how to fix the problem, I'd be very grateful!

Customer Review: Does NOT work with IPod Touch !
Summary: 1 Stars

The ITalk Pro is not compatible with IPod Touch!

When you connect it to the Ipod touch it automatically disconnect the external speakers. On top of that the microphone doesn't work (it does work with my ipod Nano).

I purchased the Italk for VOIP (Skype) but it does not work with any of the apps.

Customer Review: Good stuff
Summary: 4 Stars

It is a good device. It has good quality and on the contrary to what I have read on different websites, the battery lasts over 3 hours of recording in my 60GB ipod. easy to use.
The only bad thing is the ridiculous size per recording in comparison to many digital voice recorders. Other than that it's working OK.

Now getting the stuff delivered took me almost a week and I paid for "Prime" service with Amazon... what if I didn't have it? (sigh!)

Customer Review: HELP!!! I have a question!
