Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Griffin 1100-PWRMTS PowerMate/USB Multimedia Controller and Input DeviceCustomer Review: Windows 7 64-bit Summary: 3 Stars
Pros:
It works well with Windows XP 32-bit and version 1 of the software.
Cons:
Could not get it to run under Windows & 64-bit with either version 1 or version 2.
Other thoughts:
After going to Griffin's site to get the latest software/driver, I noticed it hasn't moved from 2.0.x, and is only supported up to Vista (32-bit). If you're planning on buying this for a 64-bit version of Windows, I would highly recommend against it, and to find an alternative (B0001DBEKG (large) or B000LB7G00 (expensive)) to save yourself the trouble. I have not tested this with Mac OS X 10.6 64-bit, so I am not sure of the compatibility.
Customer Review: Nice knob, useless software Summary: 1 Stars
I bought the Griffin Powermate to use as a simple volume control for my desktop PC. The knob itself is built fine, although the movement could be smoother. However the functionality of the knob is rendered useless by the poorly written drivers and buggy application included. Instead of using the included CD I downloaded the latest version of drivers from the Griffin website, and they installed fine. But every time the computer hibernates or is restarted the drivers are lost, or in one case caused a blue screen. This makes the knob worthless.
Customer Review: It's great and it supports Windows 7 X64 Summary: 4 Stars
I just purchased this for my own HDTV editing, too . It's great and it is compatible with my Windows 7 X64 ( 64 bits) system. I am so glad that it supports most of applications in my multimedia ( audio and video ) editing field. I can freely add a application into the relevant list and set up shortcut key. Then I use it for shuttle JOG controller, just like time returns to 1993, I was using SONY RM440 , tuning the log wheel ...
Customer Review: Not a happy customer Summary: 1 Stars
I had purchased this item perhaps a year ago now, and even though I edit video quite often, and have thought of many different applications where it might be useful, the PowerMate is just not responsive enough to perform when I need it. Aesthetically it is very clean and polished, and I think that's what caught my eye at the beginning. It is simply not worth it though. My suggestion is to try another, similar product.
Customer Review: Perfect easy volume knob Summary: 5 Stars
i have a car sterio hooked up to my computor in my room with a projector and this knob makes it easy to turn up, turn down, and mute windows sound. i have it on widows 7 64 bit and it installed perfect with the vista driver. all i wasnted out of it was a volume knob and thats what i got.
Works just like the bose volume knob on their companion 3 series desktop speakers.
