Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of GlobalSat BU-353 Waterproof USB GPS ReceiverCustomer Review: Works well with my marine software: Navigator Summary: 4 Stars
On my boat, as a back-up to the built-in electronic navigation devices, I use a laptop with navigator suite on it. I was looking for the Deluo GPS Receiver, but it was not available. This one works also (the Delorme does not even if it says it does on the box, and even with an extra downloaded software. Installation is easy and signal acquisition is fast. I'll report later when I'l have had a chance to try it on open sea
Customer Review: Works as it should. Summary: 5 Stars
I've used this for a little over a month now with no problems. If I had to come up with anything negative to say about it, I guess it would be the plastic USB cord suction cup that is supposed to adhere it to the windshield. The clip for the cord is too wide for the cord which allows the cord to fall out. I've driven rigorously without the suction cup clip and the gps never falls off of the dash. No problems so far.
Customer Review: Great GPS Receiver on budget!! Summary: 5 Stars
When I was looking for a GPS receiver to go with my Asus EEE PC 4G, I read the reviews I could find and decided i go with BU-353 GPS receiver. My order turned up quickly at my door, installed the drivers and then plugged it into my Asus EEE PC 4G. It registered the location with 8 satelites!
We took it on a test drive and very much please with the performance. I would recommend it to friends & others.
Customer Review: Good gps for a laptop Summary: 4 Stars
Bought this gps to use for marine navigation on a laptop. It is reasonably easy to set up and seems to works well. Haven't had a chance to see how waterproof it is yet. Could have used a longer cable - it is only about 4 1/2 feet long. Also, the suction cup mount is not a great design (it attaches to the cable rather than the gps itself, so it leaves the gps free to bounce about. Overall, a good deal.
Customer Review: Google Earth Friendly Summary: 5 Stars
Wanted to interface Google Earth with a GPS and this piece of kit was excellent. Had to download a special program called Earth Bridge to get Google Earth to recognize the GPS data (GE only accepts direct access to a couple of GPS receivers)
Now with laptop, wireless internet, GE and my GlobalSat I have an accurate live navigation system.
Great buy
Happy navigating
