Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Genius MousePen 8 x 6-Inch Graphic Tablet for Home and OfficeCustomer Review: Mac Users you have to try this! Homeschoolers a great tool! Summary: 4 Stars
Okay, Well funny thing happened right out of the box the mouse worked but the pen did not. Well I loaded unloaded and was about to try new batteries and discovered didn't take the plastic off the battery. Well all you customer support people can add this to dumb ways customers cause electronics to malfunction. Once I unwrapped the batteries and reinstalled the drivers everything began working. So then I was looking for a good program to run with it and found ArtWeaver for windows and seashore for Mac.
Now even if you are a good artist you are not doing masterpieces out of the box and to be honest I think it will be able to sketch with this. I however have no graphic design training on computers so this is a new idea but I am very excited. My sons girlfriend however has experience and can not believe the cost and the ability she uses Wacom I believe is what it is called and she thinks this is a very good product.
The software that comes with it makes it both Mac and Windows Friendly which is a huge plus because I have a Mac Air running on now but also have a Windows XP. I got all the downloads right off Genius site.
If you homeschool and want to introduce a graphic art or have a homeschooler who wants to do that this is a good enough tool at a price that I think is very impressive.
I have a future engineer that will use this and my last homeschooler going into high school this is going to be fun!
Just copy and paste the links will take you to the sites. Good Luck

I have not had an issue with this product but if want Wacom bamboo sorry you are going to be a little short on features. In all I still think it is great.
Customer Review: Perfect starter-tablet for those who want to dabble! Summary: 5 Stars
It may not be a Wacom, but darn it, this is amazing for the price. I'm a linux user and by following a tutorial at the ubuntu forums, I found installation to be very easy. The tablet mouse is a bit small, but tablet mice in general may always be a tad smaller than a normal mouse, so I can't really complain.
It's got the 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity that any professional tablet has. It doesn't have tilt sensitivity, but I'm guessing the inclusion would have lead to a price higher than what this currently is. The size, for me, is perfect as I'm kinda' used to drawing with small strokes. For someone looking for a 9x12 tablet from Genius, there is one for I think $125 or so, which isn't that bad.
As I said, it may not be a Wacom, but if you or anyone you know has interest in graphic design, do check it out. For fifty bucks, it's an amazing deal. I've had no problems so far and I'll be practicing more once I'm more adept at drawing on paper. In fact, I and anyone in the field of digital art will recommend that you learn drawing skills, whether it be figure drawing, scenery, cartooning, anime, or whatever, first. Then, once you're good at that, make the leap to the digital world.
This is one of the best purchases I've made. I would give this 4 stars since it doesn't have tilt sensitivity, but I'm too happy with this to let a minor quibble get in the way.
Oh, and if you haven't gotten triple-A batteries in a while, start getting some. The stylus and mouse each take one. Also, keep the stylus away from pets =)
For anyone who uses open-source software such as Gimp, Krita, and Inkscape, I highly recommend this.
Customer Review: Very Good Tablet for the Price Summary: 4 Stars
I got my Genius tablet a bit over a week ago, and I'm really enjoying it.
It set up quickly on my Windows 7 laptop, and I was using it within minutes. It is very intuitive for a first time user.
I read several complaints in previous reviews, but have had very few issues myself.
In regards to drivers, the ones that came with the unit were fairly recent and the product worked right out of the box. I was easily able to get updated drivers from the site.
Some people complained about batteries being DOA, but the batteries I received were sealed and when placed in the pen and mouse worked fine.
The pen is light and not too big, and after getting used to the placement of the button I have had no issues. Right-clicking can be odd with the pen, but I switch easily between using the pen and the mouse.
One issue I have had is that sensitivity will turn off for the pen if my laptop goes into sleep mode. I remedied this by simply telling the computer to never power down while plugged in, and I do not use the tablet when running on battery power. The laptop must either be left on 24-7 or shut down completely when not in use and sensitivity will return when powered on. A mild annoyance, but nothing to complain much about.
The size of the pad is comfortable, and I have had no trouble getting used to drawing on it. As previous reviews stated, set your brush size far larger than you want, and you will be able to draw with ease.
Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase, and glad I didn't waste money on an unbearably expensive Wacom. We'll probably be buying a second one for my husband in the future.
Customer Review: Want an inexpensive way to duplicate your handwriting/drawing on-screen? Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this graphic tablet about three months ago because i do a lot of graphic design for websites and ive always thought it would be nice to be able to duplicate my handwriting/freehand drawing to the computer. And for the low price (compared to other competeing tablets), it does that perfectly.
The stylus is precise, with very little "skipping around". The only complaints I would have about the product are the somewhat cheap construction of the stylus itself, considering that it seems impossible to order a replacement stylus without ordering an entire new tablet, but I also havent looked very hard. That being said, the stylus is still working great after a few months of everyday use.
In addition to the consturction of the stylus, the included mouse is pretty much worthless if youre like me and hold the mouse at an angle. But thats because this is designed to be a graphic tablet, not an effective mouse. My guess is if youre reading this review right now, you already have a fully functional mouse anyway, so who cares? But other than that, the tablet was well worth the low cost, especially when paired with some decent graphic design software, such as flash or photoshop. High-end programs like these recognize the diffferent levels of pressure that can be applied with the stylus, and after playing with that for a while, youll wonder how you ever lived without one of these before.
I recommend this product to anyone who does any sort of designing on the computer, or any drawing enthusiasts who would like to digitize their art. And if you ever use Adobe Flash to create animations, you cant afford NOT to buy this.
Customer Review: So far so good Summary: 4 Stars
First impressions: The not-so-good stuff...Documentation in enclosed manual is skimpy to say the least. Don't even tell you how to place the pen battery and it's not all that intuitive. (Positive goes up.) Driver with CD didn't seem to work. Went on website and downloaded a driver (hmmm, 2 choices for XP...no explanation of what XP"64" meant but I chose that one because it had a very current date versus 2004 for the plain XP choice). Installed and shut down/restart computer again. Still no work.
Then, decided to unplug the tablet and reinsert it. Kabam, it started to work. Didn't even have to restart the machine.
Note: Possibly it would have worked if I had done this earlier instead of getting the new driver, but in any case the new one works great.
The good stuff: Once it started to work it works beautifully. Pressure is adjustable, I can do light and dark shading very much like with a pencil. Buttons work nice, left, right and middle. I easily changed the email and www hot buttons on top of tablet by defining them as Firefox and Thunderbird...I'm sure I can do the same with the others. Very slick. Just double click on the little tablet icon in the taskbar.
Still my first hour using it but I like it already. Compared to my (really!) old 4X5 Wacom tablet I find this larger one hard to get used to because I have to move my hand twice as far to get the cursor from one side of the screen to the other. But I'm sure that drawing with this one will be much more precise.
Seems well worth the money if you're willing to figure stuff out yourself.
