Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of VGA Adapter to TV S-Video RCA Out Cable for PC VideoCustomer Review: doesn't work on HDTV VGA inputs. Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this in an attempt to upgrade the video quality of my gamecube on my 32" vizio hdtv.
the tv doesn't have an s-video input, and I wasn't willing to fork out the cash for the component cable that is so rare these days, so I was hoping to use the vga input in my tv(which in itself does work for sure, I've used it) as a sort of work around to at least get the s-video quality.
it didn't work. I don't know exactly why, but the tv said that there was no power connected and it was shutting off, which is basically what it says when nothings plugged in at all. I even tried several different combinations of cables thinking that for some reason it might be the issue, but still nothing.
the cable itself came very quickly, appears to be made of good quality equipment, and to my knowledge should still connect to a normal monitor just fine. that's is why I gave it 4 stars.
I'll probably still use this if I ever travel around, it can essentially hook up to any system that has a set of composite cables, so there's no reason not to just grab a monitor and play anywhere.
Customer Review: The obvious use isn't correct Summary: 1 Stars
Alright, first of all let me say that the obvious use of this product is to run gaming systems to your monitor. That is what I bought it for. I asked myself, hmm.. what are two audio cables doing coming out of a video adapter? It does't make sense, but oh well.
Anyway, I hooked it up in the most obvious way and realized that I am now in the majority of people that bought something that doesn't work for them. I tried running the yellow video cable to my monitor and it did nothing, so I tried the S-Video cable as well. Still nothing and I tested my Xbox directly to my monitor to make sure the monitor was fine. It clearly does not work for what seems to be it's obvious purpose.
That begs the question, what the hell is this thing actually for, other than making a lot of people waste two bucks plus postage?? I thought the majority of people were trying to run it to their TV and that is why there were so many negative reviews, but NO, it simply doesn't work for what you think it does, if it works at all.
Customer Review: I have no idea what this thing is for Summary: 3 Stars
I tried to pump video from a DVD player to my monitor, that didn't work. I tried to pump video from my computer to my TV, that didn't work. I have no idea what this thing is for and the description page isn't forthcoming with useful info.
My advice, find another way to do what you are trying to do, chances are this thing won't do it. If you are trying to watch video from a device like a DVD player I have heard that converter boxes work very well. If you are trying to hook up an Xbox 360 for video I suggest buying the Monster Xbox 360 VGA cable, it works well. I know, it's monster, which means it's overpriced, but in this I recommend that you get their cable. I went through two Microsoft Brand VGA cables and they both had ghosting effects but the monster didn't. If you want to spend upwards of 60 dollars burning through cables that don't work go ahead. Just remember to change the color space in the Xbox Console Settings to RGB.
Customer Review: Misleading Garbage Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this product to conect my HP G60-530US Notebook to my TV. My computer does have an HDMI output but I eas tring to connect it to an non-HDTV. I was stupid and did not read the extremly helpful reviews from previous buyers. I received the product and attempted to connect to my TV using both composite and s-video connections, both failed. I then went to the seller's website (HDE). I looked up my item and read the product info and relized this piece of trash only works on a handful of systems. I then went to the amazon page for the item. They did not explain it as detailed as HDE. I read up on HDE's return police. It would cost me more than the product to return it. I will not be buying from HDE again. I have since contacted amazon and requested that the product description be updated so that all buyers will not be riped off by this "missleasing" and "Idiot attraction factor" the only 5 stars on my amazon reveiw. DO NOT BUY.
Customer Review: If your card/laptop supports this, you probably already have the cables Summary: 1 Stars
If your graphics card or laptop supports this feature, you already have the cable. You may have thrown it out though, like most people do with those extra cables. In this case, you are probably screwed. There is a higher chance, however, of your graphics card or laptop having its own dedicated S-Video output, in which case this cable will definitely not work. It's not that this cable is broken or defective, it is just meant for a very specific, non-standardized pin-out for a vga port. VGA carries ONLY VIDEO INFORMATION by default. Specifically, it carries red, blue, green, and signals for horizontal sync and vertical sync. Nowhere does it even remotely support composite (yellow) or s-video signals.
To sum it all up, DO NOT BUY THIS CABLE! Look around the boxes that your computer/laptop/video card came in to see if you already have these cables.
