I bought three of these ipod connector/charger kits a couple of months ago, and while they are somewhat functional, they are as cheaply made as their price would indicate. The USB connector cord is retractable, but the cable is very thin and I have one that is already frayed where it goes into the USB end while the second one I have got stuck in the open position and does not retract any more. The car charger is just as cheap - the first time I went to use it, the end fell apart in the outlet and I had to pry the pieces out with a needlenose pliers. The wall charger is the only piece that I haven't had any trouble with yet.
If you're looking for something dirt cheap that's fine, just know that these will only last a few months and are basically disposable.

I was concerned about whether this product was worth buying, given the mixed reviews and bad experiences that some of the other people rating it have had. However, having used it for the past several months and road-tested all items with thorough abuse, I am pleased to report that they continue to work flawlessly. The only reasons I'm not giving this set 5 stars are 1) they FEEL cheap, as if they might fall apart at any moment, even though they haven't, and 2) the length of the cord is absurdly short - barely long enough to reach from a wall outlet to the top of a table that is directly adjacent to it. If they added a second, longer, non-retractable cable to this kit, it would be a perfect ipod power solution. As it is, for less than five bucks, it's a great buy.Customer Review: Did not work at all!

This product was fairly inexpensive so I purchased it as a charger for my ipod in my new car. When I recieved the product it did not work...I plugged it in and the little red light flickered for a while and was not charging my ipod at all. They sent me a defective product. When I wrote to them to see if I could get my money back they told me to send the product back to them and they would refund me the money. The only problem is that I already had to pay to ship it to myself and then they wanted me to pay to ship it back. The combined shipping cost was more than the cost of the product itself. In the end I will never purchase something from this company again, it was a complete waste of my money and I will be aware of inexpensive products advertised on this website.Customer Review: Beware Quality Control

This is a classic example of quality control roulette. Some will work and others may destroy your iPod and it isn't worth the risk to save a few bucks. I plugged one end of the charger to a iPod classic and plugged the adapter into a wall socket. The adapter began making sizzling and popping sounds so I immediately unplugged it from the wall. But it got worse. There was no way to remove the connection from the iPod by hand and I eventually had to resort to using a pair of channel locks to disconnect it. This literally destroyed the charger but at least the iPod still worked. So I never did try the auto charger because I figured that would set off every engine light on the dashboard. If you feel lucky and can afford to buy multiple iPods, this is the product for you.Customer Review: Five months in, it still works, but not as well

I got this, as I suppose most people do, to avoid having loose cords flopping around my car's interior. To that extent, it works very well. A little tug on the cord and it retracts in on itself, saving space. After five months of regular use, this feature works the same as the day it arrived. What has suffered, however, is the connection between the charger and my iphone. Upon arrival, this worked fine and and I did not even get those annoying "device not designed" to work with iphone notices. But five months on, the connection is not clean. I often have to jiggle the connection to get the charger connect. This is a minor annoyance, so far, and once jiggled the connection usually stays.
That being said, the price is certainly right.
