Customer Review: Low cost must have iPod accessory kit.

1. The price was so low I figured what the heck...
2. It arrived almost instantly (using free shipping) and I was really happy that my iPod's screen indicated that it was charging perfectly!
Note: iPods are very "picky" when it comes to charging. Even the powered hub's USB ports I use with my iMac will not charge my iPod correctly, my iPod wants to be plugged into one of the computers USB ports instead; so you can image how happy I was when my iPod also "accepted" this low cost charging system!
3. The retractable cable is very nice and with some gentle handling, I bet it lasts as long as mu iPod.
4. The retractable cable also will allow you to substitute it for Apple's syncing/charging wire so it can act as a backup should you ever need it! IThe retractable cable alone is worth the price of the entire kit!
5. The only thing that I would have like improved is if the prongs of the 110 VAC module folded into the module body for traveling like the ones on my Panasonic Camera's charging unit (It's design rates an A+).
I'm telling all my friends with iPods about this charger...

When I got my iPod, it came only with a data cable. Initially not having a wall charger was ok as I was frequently syncing my music, so the iPod used to get charged via my Laptop. But after a while it was irritating to plug it to laptop just for charging.
I inquired for a wall charger plug at Apple stores & Places like Radioshack & the prices there were a shocker, $20-$25 bucks for something which should have been free & a part of the original package.
Then I came across this Universal charger kit (3 pieces) here. To be honest I had my doubts about something that costs almost 10% of the OEM stuff plus has more items (retractable cable & Car Adapter) but since it was so cheap, I decided to give it a Shot & boy that was a wise decision.
Its been over 4 months & the stuff works just as expected & no issues whatsoever so far.
The original cable is now used only when I have to sync music, for charging its this set.
I use it for both a iPod Classic & iTouch & it works great for both.

I picked this sucker up for $30 from Fred Meyer, after they made it clear that they had no other options available for charging my iPod from my computer (I was on vacation with no cord and a dead battery). I was only expecting it to last throughout the vacation, but I've been using it ever since.
I keep the car charger in my car, with no extra cables to burden it, and I keep the wall charger plugged into the wall. The cable retracts easily, with a design much like that of a window blind (pull until you let go, where it locks, and then pull a bit more and let go to release).
It's a small, unobtrusive, and incredibly convenient device for your iPod, and at this price, it's a steal. You'd pay two or three times this at some electronics stores for the wall charger or car charger alone, let alone one that is so solidly constructed.
No question -- if you own an iPod, purchase this product. I was impressed enough to come and write this review -- perhaps you will be too.

My iPod is almost surgically attached to me. I use it all the time. I wanted to have a charger for when I was not with my computer. (Being that I drive a lot, this means most of the time.) This charger kit is perfect. Now, I don't have to worry about having my iPod fully charged just because I am leaving my computer for several hours or days at a time. The cigarette lighter charger just stays in the car with the retractable cable - which I love - and the wall charger is convenient to pack and take along on a trip. The price was perfect too!
The only reason I am rating 4 stars, instead of 5, is because the wall charger was not working when I first received the kit. I contacted the seller though, and I was sent a new wall charger without any kind of hassle at all. I have used both the car charger and the wall charger without any problems since.
If you're looking for a convenient, inexpensive way to keep yourself "charged-up", this versatile kit is the way to go.

I should know buy now not to buy non oem items or ones that sell too cheap. You would think that still a bargain but the darn things don't work. Or rather work when they want too. My daughter had her phone plugged in all night and all it did was loose power. I plugged the same unit in at my desk and it took nearly all day to charge. Maybe a loose connection. On another unit I plugged it into the lighter on my truck to charge. Almost immediatly I smelled something like hot plastic. I pulled the unit and it was very hot. I won't reuse it. Could be dangerous. I didn't contact the manufacurer because it isn't worth my time to hassle of twenty . But I wouldn't buy again. I bought three of these sight unseen because they were so cheap and because I mistakenly thought they would be shipped at no cost with my iPod. I figured at a couple of bucks each how could I lose? Well first the shipping was not included because it was a different vendor. So the shipping cost took the average up to about $5 each.
