Customer Review: It's just like Apple's adapter... scaled up 101%

The build quality seems to be quite good. To all appearances, it looks identical to my (now dying) Apple adapter (In fact, it looks more like it than the picture suggests). Even the screen-printed icons on the adapter look like Apple's work. As other reviewers noted, however, the Mini-DIVI jack is a shade too big. In fact, the screen-printed logos are a tinch too big... it's like the whole adapter is from a universe that's about 101% the scale of our own.
It's not so big that it doesn't work, but big enough that to be automatically detected by the Mac as a new display, ya really gotta jam it in there... and it still won't go in (it hangs out about an eighth of an inch -- where the Apple adapter is flush with the side of the case). As a result, since I don't really like jamming it in there, I often need to "detect displays" to connect to the adapter. But it fits snugly (when not actually jammed in) and has been working great so far.
Description of Mini-DVI to VGA Female Monitor Cable Adapter
Use this cable adapter to connect your Mac to an external monitor with VGA input. Plug the Mini-DVI end into your Mac, and connect the VGA connector to a VGA (male to male) cable, then plug the cable into your monitor's VGA input jack. Compatible models: 12-inch PowerBook G4, Intel-based iMac, the MacBook Intel-based laptop, the Intel-based Xserve, and the 2009 Mac Mini.Helpful Notes: This device is intended to function more as an adapter than as a cable, meaning its short length WILL NOT reach from your Mac to the monitor. It will need to be used with a VGA cable (sold separately).
In addition, this adapter works only with Mini-DVI ports, not with Micro-DVI or Mini Display Ports. To quickly check what port you have: this adapter has a U-shaped connector that will match the U-shape found on Mini-DVI ports.
Highest resolution supported: 1920x1200 @60Hz.
Please note that Mini-DVI adapters are only compatible with Apple computers purchased prior to October 2008. Any Apple computers purchased after October 2008 will require Mini DisplayPort cables.
