Customer Review: Works for What I Want

Seeing all the negative hype almost turned me off this Dongle, but since the price was so low i figured it really wouldnt matter.
So I ordered it, and a short 3 days later i'm plugging it into my computer.
Now- I use Windows 7 32 bit OS, and the drivers automatically installed and worked right for certain things right off the bat... but since there was an installation disc, I Looked online and Got the latest update for Bluesoleil bluetooth management, and it worked with pretty much everything I used with it so far.
My Main reasons for buying this were for Game Controllers, Bluetooth file Transfers, and some other things.
It works for All of them.
For devices requiring a consistent "Stream" like a headset, it only works great up to maybe 15 feet or so, after that its only having an average performance. But if your just doing file transfers it works great up to roughly 60 feet.
Overall, i recommend this to anyone with enough knowledge to use google and update some drivers... if your so dumb as to not know how to do that, this might not be the adapter for you.

Well, I particularly enjoy how Amazon pairs up like items that are often bought together, this product happened to be one of them. For just a few bucks each, I figured, what the heck, three products will give me a greater chance of getting it to work right?
Turns out that was a bad idea...
This product came with no driver cd [which wasnt worst thing, because was not advertised as including it], but online drivers are sketchy at best. This thing is super tiny, and I practically could not get it unplugged thanks to an awkward usb port that is sunk in...Range is a few feet at best, so prepare to place the phone close by, and even then its not a sure thing.
Trying to connect my cell phone [Samsung A177] has so far burned a nice little hole in my wallet: from a USB charger/connect cable, to bluetooth adapters, and yet: no dice. I have officially given up. Unlimited texting includes multimedia content, so its easier [and cheaper] to just text to another phone or facebook/myspace.
Did not work for me. Might strap this thing to a rock/potato and launch it with the spud gun...
Customer Review: Great for Old Macs, Hacintoshes and Netbooks!

OK, I don't know or care about WindowsXP and as such I can't rate the software.
But for the hardware, this little dongle is tops! I've ordered them multiple times (10 so far) and they have all worked great.
I've put them in older macs running Tiger (OS X 10.4.11) and they are detected and work fine.
I've built a number of Hackintoshes and they work fine as soon as you plug it it.
I also have a couple of Acer Aspire 1 netbooks that did not have bluetooth and with Windows 7 Home the dongle was seen and works great! I'm typing this on one now using a Microsoft bluetooth mouse and the new apple bluetooth keyboard (2 battery) and it's working great.
Windows 7 saw the dongle and loaded the correct drivers from it's own library. In fact I didn't even realize there was a drivers disk supplied, I've been throwing the wrapping away and never looked in the cardboard behind the dongle.
These have also seen both of my bluetooth skype phones.
Ordered my last batch on a Thursday and had them on Monday with the 'cheap' delivery!

The only good thing about this adapter is.....well.....NOTHING, but I would like to commend the seller on shipping it only took 2 days to receive.
So lets start at the beginning.
First of all the item comes with no drivers disk, or website to download any. I have tried all versions of IVT BlueSoleil drivers and software, none of which work. I have tried all 8 of my usb ports, 4 different PC's all running different operating systems, let Windows do the installations, Manual installation, reconfigured the registry. After doing all the above I FINALLY got the PC to recognize the adapter.........but it will not connect to any of the following products:
Blackberry
Headphones
MP3 player
keyboard/mouse
Laptop
The adapter would not find a single bluetooth device on any of my pc's nor could they find it. Wait it gets better........when I reboot the PC Windows tries to reinstall the adapter software again and fails to do so.
This item is terrible, I have contacted the seller and I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I tried using a pair of these to add bluetooth capabilities to a pair of laptop computers that need to communicate with LEGO NXT bricks and also some bluetooth mice.
The bluetooth software installed easily enough under windows XP, and was able to find and communicate with both of my cell phones, but could not establish native connections with either the bluetooth mice or the NXT's
I checked the bluetooth mice and NXT's against other laptop computers with bluetooth, and they worked OK, so it's probably not the mice or NXT's.
Also, even after entering the security code for the LEGO NXT, the device would not establish a native bluetooth connection, so the NXT software would not communicate with the NXT brick over the bluetooth link.
The only option the bluetooth software would allow was to connect the NXT as if I was using a serial port. Unfortunately, the NXT software would not work with this.
I think that the hardware is capable of communicating correctly, but I think that the bluetooth software is not up to the task.
