Customer Review: Good sturdy case for S50

I bought this to fit my S50, an older Coolpix camera measuring 2-3/8" x 5-3/8" not including the wriststrap. It fits snugly within the case with room for the original wriststrap attached. No room inside the case for cards or batteries, but I bought both an extra Zeikos memory card case and a Hakuba plastic clip-on case to clip to the carabiner. (I don't know yet which one of those I'll like better.) See the customer photos for a picture of this setup. The case is very sturdy with well-made hardware. I don't know if it's hard plastic under the material or some sort of sturdy fiberboard, but the case face is firm and relatively hard to push in. There's a little more width at the top of the case compared to the hinged bottom, so if you put the camera in with the wriststrap attachment up, then there's plenty of room for the strap in the upper half of the case. There are two good metal attachments for the included neckstrap on the back of the case, but I'm planning to use the included carabiner to clip the camera to my belt loop. With the two-pull zipper, it should be easy and quick to open each half and grab the camera if the zipper pulls are pulled together up at the top of the bag. The riveted carabiner holder is VERY sturdy, as is the zipper. There is a thin napped lining on the inside of the case which covers all the hardware rivets, with an extra patch over the carabiner rivet. The case isn't much bigger than the camera itself, so it takes me a little longer to get the camera and strap situated correctly. I have to put the camera in and then push the plastic part of the wriststrap up into the space between the camera and case zipper edge (to protect the camera's control buttons), then push in the ribbon sides (that keep the hinge from opening up too much) so they don't get caught in the zipper pulls. It isn't a two-second toss in the bag, but will be faster if you don't use the wriststrap or if you let the wristtrap hang out of the bag. This was the smallest, sturdiest case I could find for the camera. Lowepro makes one that's a similar size that my husband has on his camera, but his is a soft-shell case and won't protect it as well as this one. I wanted a small case I could either wear as described, or put in my purse. This seemed to be the one that would provide the most protection rattling around inside a purse or backpack.
