This vendor cheats people in the following way. He sells DIFFERENT webcams using the same description. In total I've bought six of these webcams. The first three (or four) worked fine, but the two last ones have different electronics inside. Yes, they look identically, but you immediately see the difference if you look inside! (The other way to notice the difference is to look on the usb report.) These two new webcams are awful: they monopolize the usb controller, so that, e.g., I can not use my usb printer when the webcam is plugged in! In conclusion,
DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO ANY (GOOD OR BAD) REVIEWS WRITTEN ABOUT THIS WEBCAM BEFORE DECEMBER 2010! THESE REVIEWS HAVE NO RELATION TO THE WEBCAM WHICH IS ON SALE NOW!!!

I ordered two of these webcams. One for my laptop and one for my husband who is gone on a deployment. They do not come with any instructions. At first, I thought I would have to contact the company...but then I just went ahead and plugged the webcam into the laptop and it installed itself with no problem. We use these webcams while talking online via Skype almost every night and we have not had a problem at all. It is, in fact, 5 mega pixels and the quality is great 98% of the time. Of course, blowing up 5 mega pixels to full screen view on a wide-screen laptop will make it a little out of focus...but it hasn't bothered us and we love them. We especially love the price and we tell everyone about them.

Ordered from HDE, got here way ahead of schedule was happy for that. The webcam is simple to use, great for elders. I ordered this one for my grampa in fact. Just plug it in and it works, no hassle at all. It doesn't like looking out the window, but as soon as it focuses on a face it picks up fine. The leds are controlled with the switch on the cord, pretty neat idea, but doesn't really have much effect in reality. Lens is focusable, but there is no option to adjust exposure on winxp / win 7 so unless you're sitting rock still it just blurs you anyway. This would be great for still photos, but I would not buy it for anything production wise. However, for $5 I can't complain. It's good for the price.Customer Review: better than expected

Reviews for this are all over board so I didn't really know what to expect. I received this really quickly in the mail and surprise, surprise - the webcam worked instantly with no software installation needed (using Vista) and was shocked at the video quality. I was expecting a somewhat blurry image but it was crystal clear and I don't really need to use the LED lights. While the image is not trully 30 fps, it's similar to other other much more expensive webcams I have used. ( actually, a bit better lol). No sound (no mic) but not really wanted to use a built in one for Skype anyway- using a headset.
Excellent value, and I think you'll be surprised.

When I first got this little webcam I was shocked. Mostly because it only cost me 5.00$ and it had no instructions. When I started using it, I realized that it works perfectly! I love how you can make the picture a lot sharper then those expensive cameras that are around like 10-20$. I think what really shocked me was the easy installation.... there was none! You just plugged it in and ta-da you can use it. My friends said they could see me clearly, and I really enjoyed the little light switch thing- it helps when your video-chatting in the night. Overall this was a great investment and I hope anyone who comes across this product will love it as much as I did!
